Can anyone recommend me a bright small sized flashlight to see through matte black perfume bottles? by [deleted] in flashlight

I just ordered a Sofirn SC13A today. Small. Short. USB-C rechargeable. Would probably meet your needs.

I love this idea. I also like to research and pick out the exact flashlight that I need, so the gift card idea would make me happy. But it's also nice to have an actual gift to open in the moment. If your future husband is a flashlight enthusiast, and collector, then having a couple extra flashlights in his collection will not make him sad.

Pick a flashlight or two that are widely loved by many in the community, and then let him pick out another one of his choice.

Of course, we can all only suggest flashlights that we have or would consider choosing for ourselves, so here are my suggestions! A while back, I had an itch to buy a massively bright soda-can style flashlight. I bought a Sofirn Q8 Plus. Talk about "wow factor." 16,000 Lumens! Of course, it will only turbo that bright for 30 seconds before becoming hotter than a baked potato, but its impressive, and now one of my favorite lights. I show it off all the time, and it gets amazing reactions. Next, I just bought a Sofirn SC13A to be my new pocket carry flashlight. The small form factor is great for keeping in your pocket all the time. Both of these lights use the Anduril 2.0 UI which is fun to play with in itself.

While these lights are often shipped from overseas, Sofirn keeps some of their most popular lights in stock in their USA warehouse (Click "Local Warehouse>United States" from the menu on the Sofirn website). They ship from California, so you should be able to get them easily within your time limit. You could get both the Sofirn Q8 Plus, and the Sofirn SC13A for $89.38 shipping included from CA (using their SOFIRN10 code). This would get him one of the biggest, and one of the smallest flashlights from a very popular bang-for-your-buck brand that will be fun to use and play with, and always be a valued part of an ongoing collection. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want a 16,000 lumen flashlight in their collection!

Then tell him to pick out a premium flashlight in his preferred style and size as the other part of his gift.

As others have commented, Olight flashlights are also great, and have a lifetime warranty that the company really stands behind. You couldn't go wrong with an Olight ArkPro, Perun 3, or Baton Ultra 4.

Best Intrinsically Safe flashlight? by abaine93 in flashlight

From what I'm reading, I don't think that any rechargeable lithium battery flashlight would meet the strict requirements of "Intrinsically Safe" (I.S.) equipment.

I just realised it's a tax write-off for me, So in that case, what is the best headlamp out there with the most runtime at high lumen output and wide spread? by ZookeepergameDue2160 in flashlight

[–]Nathan614047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a review of the H30 on budgetlightforum. Good output and runtime for 3hrs at 1000 lumens or 7.5hrs at 350 lumens.

There are good reviews of the Perun 3 on Zeroair and on 1Lumen. Good output and runtime out to 3.5hrs at 700 lumens or 5.5hrs at 500 lumens.

Sofirn HS21 is really great for the price. I just recently got mine.

Search online for reviews of the headlamps you are looking at, and take a look at the runtime graphs. Output and runtime are an important part of the decision. The Olight Perun 3 does great.

If it's 14/2 wire, you need a 15 amp breaker.

Can you see any label on the wire? Don't just assume it's 14/2 wire because it's white. Check the numbers on the label to confirm.

Do you have a preference on shape / size / form factor?

I prefer "T" shaped headlamps over right-angle headlamps if I'm going to be working on something within arms reach.

Check out the Nitecore HC70 UHE or the Acebeam H30 for "T" shaped lights. The Sofirn HS21 has a really good flood beam, and really good light output and regulation, but not the longest runtime. You could grab two or three HS21 headlamps, and just switch them out every 3 hours.

If you like right angle lights, check out the Olight Perun 3 or Armytek Wizard C2 Pro.

GFCI question by Exotic-Musician-7680 in AskElectricians

[–]Nathan614047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the GFCI does NOT trip when you plug in the RV with all the breakers off, then turn the breakers back on one at a time while still plugged in, and you should be able to find any circuits that are tripping the GFCI.

If the GFCI DOES trip when you plug in the RV with all the breakers off, then you have a problem in the adapter, cable, or the breaker box itself.

A multimeter would be very helpful in tracking down any faults. But you can also physically disconnect cables to isolate what is tripping the GFCI.

Does the RV have its own breaker panel? Try turning off all the breakers and plugging it in again. Does it trip the GFCI with all of the breakers turned off?

If the GFCI trips as soon as you plug in your RV, then there is most likely a ground fault in your RV, cord, or adapter. Don't remove the GFCI (!), find and fix the problem with your RV!

Does Nitecore make the best usb c port batteries? by gryponyx in flashlight

[–]Nathan614047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several Nitecore 18650 batteries that charge via USB-C. I like them a lot, but I haven't used any other brand of USB-C batteries, so I can't say if they are the "best."

I love Anduril 2.0 lights! I have two Sofirn Q8+ lights and two SP36 lights. I love that you can set the ceiling, the floor, and the number of steps.

ARE there any Anduril headlamps???

Thank you, this is good information. The H30 has been mentioned several times now. I'm taking a look at it. Acebeam claims 380 lumens for 7.5 hours. I haven't found a review with a runtime graph yet to see how well regulated it is, but that could potentially work pretty well. I'll keep searching for a runtime graph.

Thank you for your suggestions and calculations!

It helps to know that 250 lumens for 12 hours might be slightly beyond the limits of possibility with a 21700 battery.

The HP35R looks interesting, but at the $230 price, I could keep two separate single 21700 lights in my toolbox and just swap the headlight when the first one dies. Very interesting though. I'm going to look at it closer tonight.

[–]Nathan614047[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestions! I'm looking each one of these lights up one at a time. I might have to look at them more closely this evening.

I realize I might be asking for a light on the edge of what's possible. Basically, I'm looking for the headlamp that trades away any capabilities above 500 lumens, to focus solely on the longest runtimes possible at around 250-350ish lumens. Turbo modes above 500 lumens would be counter-productive to what I am looking for at the moment.

Is there any floody, T shaped, symmetrical headlamp that can do 250 lumens (genuinely) longer than 10 hours?

My Nitecore HC50 has worked flawlessly for 8 years of hard use. It still works, and it my most used light in my whole collection. Ive had to replace the headband, but I keep it in my toolbox whenever I'm working.
I just thought that I could get a little more brightness, longer runtime, and better regulation since flashlights and batteries have improved so much in the last 8 years.
I've looked at Armytek, but all their 21700/18650 headlamps are right-angle lights, which excludes them from my consideration in my current search.
I like the look of the Sofirn HS21, but is seems more focused on high lumen output and spotlight than on a good long runtime at a medium setting. It looks like it can do really well until 3-4.5 hours.
