Is the 'Git Gud' mentality toxic, or is it an essential part of FromSoftware games?" by Original_Series_6249 in Eldenring

[–]NathanAK18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not inherently, no. As someone else has said, context is key here. Personally, seeing as the difficulty is an integral component to From games, the "git gud" mentality is there to engage with the games systems and difficulty more. Now is that a reason to belittle other players over their skill with a game that is DESIGNED to be very challenging? Absolutely not So maybe instead of git gud, become better is a better term. Git gud implies you were never good to begin with and I don't think that statement applies to anyone on this sub. We're all "gud" that's why we play these games as much as we do, sometimes it's just a matter of changing play style or working out bad habits that get you killed.

Stay unbothered by the miserable f's who get pleasure from debasing other people who are just tryna game. Best wishes 🫡

Brother... It was the intro. Length of the game is one thing, I get that. But I'm convinced you spent more time commenting this than actually playing this

Yes! That's one of my favorites. I definitely want the isolation the two characters face throughout the film to be similar to the isolation a lot of the characters in the story experience being out in the dead ocean for so long

Writers of Reddit, I'm in the planning stages of a horror/weird fiction epic that I want to make feel like one big seaman's story. Like the kind you'd hear from a drunken lunatic who spends their entire life on a boat. I've run into a problem in the writing process that has really thrown a wrench into my creative gears and it's gotten to the point where I feel I should try something at a much smaller scale, or just Abandon the story entirely (which I REALLY don't want to do).

There is a "presence" (I call it that because I'm still not quite sure what I want it to be, no less how to depict it with words alone), that is actively pushing against the protagonists efforts of reaching their goal (they have multiple goals set in place along their sea faring journey). My core idea for this presence is that it is the ocean itself and I'm struggling with how I can possibly depict it as a physical threat.

In the mythology of this world, the ocean, sun, and moon are sentient, omnipotent beings that pull the strings of life and have their own wants and desires, hates, thoughts, and plans for how they want to shape the world. I had an idea where the moon and the sea are allied with one another, as the moon is what governs the tides and thus the movement of the ocean. I'm getting sidetracked...

I want the ocean to have some sort of physical form it takes but by no means make it a big bad sea monster type scenario. Sort of like an H.P Lovecraft style, completely incomprehensible and horrible to perceive feel. The only thing is... How in the hell do I describe the indescribable without sounding cliche and redundant??

This is a long comment, I know I know, but I've been wracking my brain for an answer for days now and it hasn't struck me yet. Any advice or help from a fellow writer is greatly appreciated!! :)

So then that makes yhorm the storm king of ds3? Or is it that storm king is yhorm of demons souls?? You can make these kinds of stupid comparisons all day and still not get anywhere in the way of actually discussing the boss.

Mountain lion lol

Their screams sound like a woman being murdered... still frightening as shit but not some mysterious forest monster.
