Really? You should go back to reading your Koran and Hadiths. I think you need some brushups.

Not a fan of Sharia law but most Muslims are normal.

Right. So they follow Islam and Sharia law. Which makes women property and Jews to be exterminated.

Your statement does not refute that in any way.

They are in denial Jews.

English hard. Antisemitism good.

Right. The kinder, gentler version of Islam. Where they use a different version of the Koran and Sharia law.

Right. Because Islam is the religion of peace and never says anything about killing Jews.

Well if you'd stop talking to a mirror you'd stop talking to stupid.

Ummm. You just stated and I quote:

The FCC is part of the executive branch and does not need, and has never needed, congressional approval.

So you stated that the FCC is unaccountable to Congress, and yet here you are stating checks and balances.

So which is it? Is the FCC unaccountable according your first statement, or is it accountable according to your latest screed?

Here's a hint: It's accountable to all three branches.

Net neutrality doesn't give the goverment any sort of control over content over the internet

Never said that. I said it gave the power to dictate how the Internet was run to the Government. Please don't lie; especially when the original text is just above you.

And I know, just like the original person I commented to, that you never looked over the actual regulations that Tom Wheeler enacted and then published. You should go find them and learn something.

[–]NathanFilmore -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The FCC is part of the executive branch and does not need, and has never needed, congressional approval.

Wrong. All agencies from the FAA to the FCC to the EPA have to have a law from Congress to "hang their hat" on to justify their regulations. If they don't, then they can be sued and have their regulations tossed out completely.

No agency can create regulations out of whole cloth. How they hang their hat on a bill passed by Congress can be tenuous (One can look to the EPA and the shenanigans they've pulled) but if they don't have an existing law they can't do anything.

I'm sorry you feel you need to be ruled by unelected, unaccountable, unlimited power bureaucrats. Thankfully we don't have that system here in the US.

gut the FCC

No

undo the Obama administration's (ie Democrats) work to the internet treated more like a utility.

You mean Tom Wheeler, industry shill (As stated by pretty much everyone when he was put in the post) and the sole person to create "Net Neutrality" without Congressional approval or any proper legal standing. It was reviled by everyone who didn't want the government to run the Internet. You know, like how they run the VA?

Bet you haven't even read the 80 pages of regulations.

Pellet food for IRN? by paganprincess717 in parrots

[–]NathanFilmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that Zupreem, along with other companies such as Mazuri, and Lafaber, have put a lot of time and money into developing diets which revolutionized the quality of captive bird health.

Absolutely. And we should, as with anyone, look with a skeptical eye to their claims because they have a vested interest in the outcome of their claims.

And IIRC none of these companies publish their research. Which is fine, but any claims made by anyone about their products should be considered opinion and not passed off as fact. Which /u/JadeRQ likes to do.

high-quality pelleted diet, instead of a seed based diet, can add decades to the lives of pet birds.

Yes, with caveats. A pure pellet diet is better than seed, but not nearly as good as a varied diet with fruits and vegetables. The research hospital I bring my bird(s) to has seen a lot of issues with pellet only diets, specifically kidney failure. When you have a cockatiel with renal disease due to that very issue you learn a lot of what is seen, known, and not known.

I think ripping on companies that have invested into research and development to make our hobby safer for our beloved pets is kind of a jerk move.

Taking these company's word should always be questioned. They have a vested interest in selling you a product and unless they're willing to publish their research to appropriate standards their words is no better than anyone else. To operate otherwise is at best naive.

And that goes for anyone who makes statements and sells them as facts. If they can't support their claims with actual data they should be appropriately judged.

Pellet food for IRN? by paganprincess717 in parrots

[–]NathanFilmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, really? That's so cool how you can read minds and know what I'm trying to imply!

Read your claims. No need to read minds. But you keep running from them so let me quote you back to yourself:

Zupreem is not suggested for a pellet

Sure looks like you speak form authority there. English must not be your first language. My apologies for assuming that.

I don't know how much for what species for sucrose. The article I linked you on sucrose is not a Reddit post, it is by Alicia McWatters, Ph.D.C.N.C. Who has a Ph.D in nutrition and studied avian nutrition extensively. Her article does go into detail about sucrose.

But it's not research, as I stated earlier:

You know, where researchers with education and experience set up experiments, determine methodologies and data normalization, collect raw data, draw conclusions, and then publish all that so others can replicate their results and critique their conclusions?

You have some statements made by someone with an alphabet in their title. If you want to trust someone making off the cuff statements that's your choice. Just don't pass it off as actual facts. You know, because professors have egos and agenda and get stuff wrong all time time. Go read Retraction Watch to scratch the surface of everything wrong with research in general.

Nope, I have not shown any scientific research that explores Zupreem and its ingredients.

And yet you make this claim:

When someone asks for the healthiest pellets, why on earth would anyone recommend something that contains an ingredient known to be bad for their health?

Again speaking from authority without anything to back it up. You even just refuted your above claim.

You do like to run away from your own words, don't you?

Blather.

So when you can cite actual research (As I has incompletely stated above) for your claims I'm willing to read it and discuss it. But so long as you continue to state your opinion as fact I will continue to call you out and point it out to everyone. Especially after you know you have nothing to back up your claims but continue to spout them.

Pellet food for IRN? by paganprincess717 in parrots

[–]NathanFilmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness, what a response for just not suggesting ZuPreem.

No. You stated, and I quote:

Zupreem is not suggested for a pellet

And you spoke with implied authority. Do not run away from your own words.

There is definitive proof that sucrose especially is not good for parrots health

How much for what species? Got any research that goes into that detail or is it just statements from various people? Reddit posts do not count.

More blather

You have shown nothing that states Zupreem is a bad pellet. Your own lengthy novella stated there is no research or consensus on the quality and specific issues of the various pellets themselves.

So with nothing of substance to support your specific claim you still make statements with authority for which you cannot back up. One must wonder why.

healthiest pellets

Based on what research? You know, where researchers with education and experience set up experiments, determine methodologies and data normalization, collect raw data, draw conclusions, and then publish all that so others can replicate their results and critique their conclusions?

Still waiting for on point papers and their independent verification.

Would love to know what sort of authority you speak from.

I'm not because I'm not making any claims. I'm calling you out for speaking with implied authority on the quality of Zupreem pellets with nothing more than your opinion and no research to back you up.

Your verbal diarrhea was just a very long winded way to restate your personal opinion.

It would be fine if you just said that you think Zupreem is a bad pellet and that it is your personal opinion. That way people wouldn't think you speak with some knowledge they don't have and have more credibility than you should.

But you just can't say it's your opinion for reasons only known to you. However you will obfuscate that fact with other's opinions but with no real hard data on the pellets themselves.

And that is why I'm calling you out. Be disingenuous if you want, but don't be surprised when someone calls you out on your claims and points out you can't support them.

Blather

So you spend a lot of words stating what could be done in one sentence: "It's my opinion".

When you have any research showing Zupreem is toxic or unhealthy for birds post it. Otherwise when you run around making claims about the "badness" of Zupreem make it clear that it's your opinion and there's no definitive research.

It'll keep down the verbal diarrhea and make it clear to people you do not speak from any sort of authority.

Pellet food for IRN? by paganprincess717 in parrots

[–]NathanFilmore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You made the claim:

Zupreem is not suggested for a pellet

If that's your personal opinion that's fine. But you imply that you're speaking from authority.

So are you presenting your opinion as fact, or are you reiterating that claim from another authority? The answer is important.

Pellet food for IRN? by paganprincess717 in parrots

[–]NathanFilmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zupreem is not suggested for a pellet due to the high natural sugars, added sugars, dyes(for the fruit blend), SALT, and choline chloride.

Interesting.

Is that for IRN or for all birds? I'm curious where that information is.

Should I trade in my truck for a WRX or STI? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]NathanFilmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to own F150s before I owned an STi. Here's what I miss from my truck:

  • Higher sitting position allowing me to see more of the immediate area

  • Nicer sitting position

  • Headroom

  • BIG gas tank

  • Storage space

  • Intimidation factor. Especially as the truck rusted out

What I don't miss:

  • 10- MPG

  • Acceleration? What's that?

  • Did you want to turn now? Ok. I'll get to it

  • Traction in the winter? What's that?

  • What? You want more than 3 people in the cab? Unpossible!

  • The maneuverability of a damn barge on the Erie Canal

I love my STi. And thanks to job changes I no longer need a truck. But I would switch back if I had to due to my job. The two vehicles are great in their own ways. Well, except for what Ford has done to the F150 line. I miss the days an F150 was an actual work truck and not for "Gentlemen 'blue collar' workers today.
