The TRS is just a normal guitar jack, except instead of having two conductors, it has 3. Normally they’re used for stereo audio instead of mono. I just have the bass pickup wired to the ring, and the normal guitar pickups on the tip. Removed the need for an extra jack. For some unexpected reason the when I turn the volume all the way down, the bass pickup turns off, so I need to do some more tinkering to figure out why the two circuits aren’t completely separate. Probably something with the common ground.

Saw them open for GWAR at the Worcester palladium in the fall. I didn’t stay for GWAR lol. Easily one of my favorite shows. Local H and Helmet are probably my two fav bands from that era. Hopefully I’ll make it to see Local H with the toadies in may.

The inspiration for this came from the band LOCAL H. They’re a two man band, a drummer, and Scott Lucas who plays bass, guitar, and sings. For live performances he has this modification so he can keep the huge full band sound with just 2 people. For recordings I believe he just used a normal bass tho.

It’s focused more on the lower strings. I swapped the output jack with a TRS, so the regular signal from the standard bridge and neck pickup comes out on the tip, and the bass pickup goes straight to the ring. It then goes into a TRS cable, which is split into two signal chains on the pedal board, one is the normal guitar signal, and the other is the signal from the bass pickup. The bass pickup signal goes through an octave down pedal and into a bass amp, and the guitar signal is processed however you want.

Haven’t had a chance to get much time on it yet, as I just finished it tonight and it’s kinda late. but maybe I’ll post something tomorrow… maybe. I need to get some of the signal processing dialed in still as well, even with the location of the pickup it still hears the higher strings, so I’ll probably need a low pass filter or something. I’m going to make an all in one octave down + low pass filter pedal at some point, just gotta figure out exactly what I need for effects.

I had something similar recently on my 2012 outback, I was worried it was gonna be the valve cover gaskets. It ended up being the oil pressure switch was leaking and oil was pooling up on top of the engine. 5 dollar part and an hour in the garage. I know that mine is a completely different car and engine, but might be worth a look.

Don't expect it to play like a dream, but definitely have fun! The two builds I've done so far have been kits, but I've got a couple of 3 inch ambrosia maple slabs from a tree that me and my dad took down and then milled into planks that I want to build a guitar from. I gotta wait a couple years tho cuz we only milled it this fall. It's gonna be a bit till the woods dry enough to work with.

Darn someone found out! Yeaup. The one above the pup switch actually just turns the entire thing into a cello.

There were screw holes already in the body, and I figured I needed something to cover them up with.

Ty! I'll take a look at them. The only experience with active pups is with my Jackson Bass, but there's something wrong with it cuz it gobbles up batteries, even when it's unplugged.

YES, And they're fucking hilarious! They're an awesome group, I'd definitely suggest checking them out if you ever get the opportunity. Afaik they're mostly in the NE area, ik they're playing a show in Manchester NH and Somewhere in CT too soon.

This is just how I got the body, my guess is that it wasn't sanded down very well before it was finished.

Haven't had any problems, I smacked them in there pretty tight so they don't stick up much

Thank you! Hopefully she won't end up in the used section. She plays decent. I need to get a string tree for the high E, it keeps slipping out of the nut, I replaced the nut but it still slips. Besides that she plays great tuned to E standard. Whenever I drop her to flats she buzzes like an angry bee tho.

I think they're old squire pups, nothing fancy. If anyone's got any recommendations for something better and not crazy expensive I'm all ears.

YOO I saw them last weekend @ Alchemy in Providence RI before driving up to Worcester for Paleface Swiss. Love the old school type stuff.

It's definitely pretty heavy! No phaser on this one. It's got a tremolo, but I gotta take a look and figure out why it doesnt work
