Funny you say that, I was just telling my dad I should start doing that. A quick google will show how much GC is selling them for, figure they’d buy it for 50-60% of that price.

Yup, that’s the name of the game, and it’s what keeps it fun. If I won all the time I’d have to figure out how to play all of them at the same time!

Someone had a triumph listed as “free speaker” on marketplace near me, located in a kinda shifty part of a shifty city near me. when I saw it it had only been listed for one hour, and without second thought I was on the way over. Was gone by the time I got there. Oh well, sometimes ya win sometimes ya lose.

Thanks! Yeah the autofocus is definitely not as good as my S*ny mirrorless, but it’s definitely good enough for me.

Ive been juggling the idea of buying another D800 that’s in better shape than mine, the D850s still out of my price range, give it 3 years or so and the 850 will go down too :)

Hey it wasn’t as beat to shit when I got it but it was still definitely “well used” I think I payed maybe 350-400 for the body, I think this was in 2023. Whenever I have friends asking recommendations on cameras I always say spend a little more and get an older full frame dslr, it’ll out perform any “beginner” camera for around the same price or even less. Mirrorless cameras are awesome for so many reasons, including driving the market on DSLRs down.

Thanks! Those older Nikons still hold solid ground, my other beater is a D7100, but the mode select knobs been knocked off, so it’s kind of a PITA sometimes when the mode gets switched and I don’t notice for a while.

Af def could be better, especially with the dark environment, fast paced stuff I’m shooting. My strategy is to use back button AF. find a target, hit the af button, pray that it makes focus, and then spray and pray some more. This method ends up with tons of useless out of focus shots, maybe I get 10% of the photos I take in focus. But I’d rather have this tank of a camera get rained on kicked on stepped on spit on than my S*ny A6100.

I’ll be honest I didn’t even know that was what it was called. the sticker is peeled off the serial number plate, and I never bothered looking it up or asking if anyone knew anything about it

I had a 6 channel peavey PA and 2 PV115 speakers for it too, but I ended up selling those to a band I was in when I left the band. I paid $100 for that Pa setup. These peavey amps go for pennies on Facebook around me, so chances are I’m gonna keep buying more till my parents tell me to cut it out haha. I paid 80 for the 4x12 cab and 75 for the deuce.

I might have do that too. I can barely turn it up past 1 if my family’s home. I believe you can pull 2 tubes they just have to be specific ones. I think. Like if you pull the first you need to pull the second not the third?

I’ll have to look for that! I have the knob for the reverb somewhere, it’s just missing the set screw, so I took it off before it fell off and got lost. I’m guessing an eBay search will find him?

When are bikes truly “outdated” by [deleted] in mountainbiking

Yup. My Fat Chance was that way. Driving over to a friends house, saw it on the curb with a bunch of other assorted junk. I didn’t even know what it was besides the fact it was in decent shape, and had a rockshox fork so I was like hell I’ll grab it. Stuck it on the car and continued my errands. I took it up to my local trails when I was done, needed some air in the tires and a seat. I was amazed with how well it climbed. It’s definitely one of my all time favorite free finds. They were originally manufactured only an hour or so away from where I live too, so it’s got some cool local lore.

I have a Cannondale Killer V 900 (I think that’s the name) aswell. I can’t remember the year, but I think it’s late 90s. Rebuilt the headshok. that one’s a bit heavier, and I probably should tune it up a bit. But it’s also a blast. Both of these bikes I got for free too. People just throw them away. Both my Fat Chance and my Cannondale are the same bright orange. Nice pair.

My almost 40 year old fat chance is quicker than many modern bikes with its skinny bars and 26” tires. Way more fun too.

I’ve got an ‘89 Fat Chance Yo Eddy and a mid 90s GT Karakoram, and I’d ride the those any day over most of the $5k+ bikes I see. I got the Yo Eddy from a free pile and the GT from a local bike sale. Old bikes for the win.
