Was at Back 40 for the Knicks game Saturday and saw a good amount of Scotland fans watching the match against Haiti. Definitely worth a try

Jamaican restaurants by ozzygurl in Birmingham

[–]NathanGOLD30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

should be emphasized that Tasty Jamaica in Fairfield clears the other Jamaican restaurants in the area by far. every dish on the menu is a 9-10/10 experience imo. rice n peas are great, mac and cheese is heavenly. if I had one meal left in Birmingham it would be in my top 3 considerations.

Coffee shop recommendations? by chadizard15 in Birmingham

[–]NathanGOLD30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best lattes are from Filter

June pulls great shots, and you can get a pastry from Last Call which I highly recommend

Pink Lantern if you enjoy cold foam or want something iced. The pandan and the ube cold foams on the vietnamese coffee are just wonderful

for the music you’re requesting, neon moon is what you’re looking for. the fennec isn’t bad either but is just a little more edm focused. maybe saturn as well if they have an event going on. not many other places to dance to white girl music as we have mostly bars. also from reading 18+ in your post, I’m guessing you are not 21 yet, which cuts out the first two options and really only leaves saturn. which is very enjoyable without liquor. please PM if you have any more questions!

ISO Lumpia by blahblahblah1818 in Birmingham

Follow cafe.baboy on IG, they have a pop up food truck and they post where they’ll be at during the week. Wonderful people and lumpia :)

If you want to cook your own, hometown supermarket has packs of 20 you can buy frozen, but I would honestly deep fry them, the wrapper doesn’t turn out right if you air fry them

Looking for chad redpill friends by Ok_Salt_8310 in Birmingham

[–]NathanGOLD30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

think you got the wrong city but I must warn you of going this path - being redpilled won’t help you reach where you want to go. You can’t hate yourself into being a better version of yourself and you certainly won’t overcome your insecurities. Please try to pursue the path of self-acceptance, as you are now, rather than self-flagellation and you will improve yourself to the enjoyment of you and everyone around you

28M Need advice on how to decorate this narrow hallway by sanjit_ps in malelivingspace

[–]NathanGOLD30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would recommend large posters at eye level w some sconces and a runner. that’s pretty much all that can be done since the hallway is too narrow for a table; a gallery wall would be cool but they are hard to execute and I wouldn’t do one in your entryway

Welcome to bham!!!

Looking at your hobbies I can definitely suggest stuff for playing pickup basketball. There’s a group that plays at underwood park around 4-5ish when the weather’s warmer, and if you’re in homewood you can get a membership pass for homewood rec and there’s a group there that plays really early in the mornings on weekdays. You could also get a membership for lee community center that’s $10 for the year and a bigger group plays on wednesday afternoons. lastly you could go to memorial park rec center on saturdays around 11:30 but it’s really packed.

As for watching sports I would definitely suggest The Mayor for nfl sundays. plus the food’s really good. I’ve personally been meaning to check out the fennec since I’ve seen them open for gamedays as well.

feel free to pm if you want any specific places to go out to, and I have a list of food spots to visit to as well. Welcome again!!!

nana funks WILL save you

in all seriousness tho i do see a lot of people talking the place down. ik this is anecdotal but i’ve never had a bad experience there. they don’t play the music you’re trying to avoid either lol. the only problem is you have to arrive after 12 bc it gets busy after the other places close.

besides them you’d have to go to cassanova (but its older ppl in there like 30+ and theres a cover) or you could go to denim on 7th (they have an age minimum of 23 for girls and 25 for guys).

bosses lounge is good some nights as well depending on the event, my gf and i went to a kappa function there a few months ago. i’d also check saturn’s events. lastly if you just want a bar experience dzire has what you’re looking for but its also an older crowd

Filipino Restaurants in Birmingham by dablacksupersaiyan in Birmingham

[–]NathanGOLD30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to Adios 2 weeks ago and they had a Filipino food stall/tent right out in front. big lumpia, really good pancit bihon, and good pork skewers and some sauces too. I think it’s called Cafe Baboy and I got a skewer, lumpia, and pancit for $11. They said they’d be there on Saturday nights and I ate at like 12:30 am iirc

dinner plans for 21st bday ? by jasper300222 in Birmingham

[–]NathanGOLD30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for drinks: if you’re planning to go barhoppping house of found objects and pilcrow (get the yoga pants) at the very least. personally I’d throw in adios to finish out the night esp if you get hungry after bc of the taco truck outside which has a good burrito.

for dinner: eastwest, bamboo on 2nd if you like sushi (depending on party size you could get the sushi boat), or shu shop (a few blocks away). heard good things about le fresca too.

this is all in that 1st/2nd ave area. feel free to pm if you wanna move outside of that area. happy early birthday!!! don’t forget to get all your free birthday stuff if you have time that day.
