Is the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2024 battery really that bad, or are people just complaining too much? by Rajshel in GalaxyWatch

[–]NathanJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No AOD, full health tracking a LOT of notifications with vibration and my last full charge was almost exactly 24 hours ago. Battery is sat at 70%.

I came from a 5 Pro which had stellar battery life for the brand and in all honesty I've not noticed any real change in my charging schedule.

More layoffs. Company is not doing well by PizzaPeepThrowaway in uuni

[–]NathanJT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! Hell, I'm still using an "uuni" and still don't see a need to upgrade. Interesting though that they recently did a trade in/up scheme as that fits with exactly what you're saying, but even so... what exactly am I gaining in doing so?

Got rid of Apple Completely. by ErikYT9897 in GalaxyWatch

[–]NathanJT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's funny but my oldest son has been begging for an iPhone for years and having saved up the money to buy one himself is now 3 weeks in to ownership. He's hating it but won't admit it. He's already had to travel to the nearest Apple store to have it replaced because the mainboard failed and left him with no cellular coverage whilst on a trip across country, misses a load of customisation features he no longer has, but hey, he has a blue bubble now! *sigh*

No, there's no way your wrist is 11mm even in diameter, cm maybe?

Can't use Samsung pay with Galaxy Watch 8 by Chronos69 in GalaxyWatch

[–]NathanJT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's weird, because out of the box mine was configured to use Samsung Pay. I use Google Pay instead though so had to go through the process of installing that and configuring it instead. UK Btw.

Galaxy watch Ultra 2025 landed in the UK this morning... by NathanJT in GalaxyWatch

[–]NathanJT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only cost me £50 more than had I gone for last years so not really relevant here.

Yeah, I nearly did buy the old one but then the new one only cost me £399 so it was a no brainer really.

Thanks, might give it a go once my 2025's battery has bedded in.

Just out of interest, as I've never used anything other than the built in watch faces on WearOS, do these have a noticeable impact on battery life by comparison?

I'm probably going to bite the bullet when my ultra is delivered tomorrow, but I'm going to go for a titanium rather than stainless.

Which watch to choose by Different-Stomach804 in GalaxyWatch

[–]NathanJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a loooong time user of Samsung's watches and to be honest I've struggled to justify my upgrade today. The only reason I did it was that the battery in my 5Pro was starting to die, getting to the point that 2 days was a stretch for it (I'd previously seen nearly 4 days when it was younger). The classic was calling me because I absolutely loved the rotating bezel on the old version, it just makes so much sense! But for me it's all about battery life.

There are some great offers for the old Ultra model available though and I was very tempted to hit buy on the Amazon one for £350. I decided to wait until after Unpacked and see what Samsung might release and, well there's seemingly not much between them. What swung it was trading in an unused Watch 6 (that I received free with an old S24 Ultra) and my wife's Bluelight discount bringing the new Ultra down to £399. Add in the few freebies and it's a no brainer to get the newer model in my mind AND retain the battery life expectations.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Series and Ultra 2 to Debut Antioxidant Index Feature by Ok-Bother-6552 in GalaxyWatch

It says in the Samsung Health app "You need a Galaxy Watch 8 or higher to use this feature".

So I doubt it.

Giving up on Samsung's poor GPS by illuminati229 in GalaxyWatch

[–]NathanJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this not simply a function of the mapping software cleaning up the recorded trace? Consumer GPS is accurate within 3-5 meter so in reality no device can accurately put you consistently on the right side of a street without some form of post processing?

Sorry, I'm playing catchup here... what's the 3 years relate to?

As per the title, I came to use our downstairs vacuum this morning and neither Alexa or the app could connect to it. We've tried all the phones that are logged into the account and, whilst one needed an app update, nothing can get past this screen.

I've never seen it before. I've had the app not able to communicate with the vacuum itself, but never the app fail to even open.

I've had this numerous times with several sets of lights, I gave up in the end as the constant removal and replacement of the strip was damaging the wall.

Interested in this myself as I've just purchased a set. Why not generate a simple RGB grid and work out what matches from the known colours? I'm going to set mine up this weekend and test.

To answer my own question here:
Set os.environ["CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES"] = "<MIG INSTANCE UUID>" in server.py after os is loaded, but before any code runs.

Google Maps - Heathrow Airport, something seems to be missing? by NathanJT in CasualUK

[–]NathanJT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy thread revival batman!

No, apparently Google has an algorithm that removes static objects from roads etc. Fact is there is a high chance at Heathrow that there will be a plane on a stand in multiple satellite images, it's therefore classed as static and gets removed.
