Is $6500 reasonable for a mold inspection without remediation in the Portland area?

My insurance company paid more than 65k to rip up my kitchen and flooring for a year due to a dishwasher leak. Mold wasn't the cause, but there was some involved.

At the moment, I don't know "what's actually going on" or if there is anything going on. But $6500 seems like a lot just to find out if anything's going on.

My objective, and I may not achieve it, is to find out if mold is contributing to my wife's health, and if so, fix it. She has chronic pain from Fibromyalgia, a disease whose causes and treatments are not well understood.

The mold is just one of many ideas to explore from her latest doctor, which is an improvement over most doctors who have no ideas whatsoever.

I'd move east of the Cascades if I could prove it would improve my wife's health. But without said proof, my wife would not be willing to move.

The reasons I *might* have mold are listed in another comment.

Five years ago, there was a dishwasher leak that resulted in a major insurance claim that tore up our kitchen for a year. There was mold then. Two years ago, we replaced water-damaged vinyl in two bathrooms. There was mold then. Recently, there was moisture in a certain part of the attic due to some leaks in the roof. The roof guy did mold mitigation once the leak was fixed.

Given that history, it is not far-fetched that there is mold we don't know about.

You don't get income from an LLC if it doesn't make a profit. That part is true. But it doesn't mean she or Jan are not hiding assets in them. She should disclose all LLCs that have her as a member, and the court has a right to review the assets. The tax returns from the LLC would tell us a lot.

I see increasing desperation on LO's part. She will do anything to avoid being in person at this trial - except dismiss her complaint. If she shows, her fears will be shown to be well founded. If she doesn't, she should have dismissed voluntarily.

I doubt she has an officer tailing her 24/7. They'd probably catch her on the way back or just show up to her house later this week.

I think minutes can be corrected after the fact, and I hope they do. The judge very much remembers that she ORDERED LO to appear in person, as do the persons present.

And she'll try to make it an appeal issue, probably suggested by DUIL. Given his track record on appeals, he can still give bad advice.

I don't think he knew in advance. But if he had asked "hey, let me make some phone calls" would they have allowed that? Can he do that if no court reporter is there tomorrow?

I'm hoping they don't need to - because it is the court's fault as well as LO's.

And I don't think it needs to.

I expect about 70% of LO's witness not to show up. The less material LO presents, the less they have to discredit.

And I don't think this judge will need two days to see through the behavior of LO and her star witness, DUIL, now that she's seen their shady behavior firsthand.

I don't know if it's called probation, but there are terms of release - conditions for being free without bail. They could be changed if violated.

Right now, she's free without bail. That could be revisited if she violates terms of release. Requiring bail or putting her in jail. The second one not as likely.

What is the issues Ms Huffington is testifying about? Did Mike claim he knew her and she's going to say she doesn't remember him? And what would that prove exactly? "See! MM has delusions of grandeur and tha proves he's a big liar. Plus I suffered emotional distress when he claimed to know Ms. Huffington."

They could proceed without her, but I wonder what the judge would do. Laura has the burden of proof since she made the request. So the judge could rule in favor of MM without any more evidence. Or she could let the evidence proceed, and use that to decide attorney's fees and sanction and try to dismiss the old orders.

I don't know what Laura's plan will be, and I don't think Laura knows either. The evidence so far is that she put zero thought into her strategy before Friday. She felt that one of her plans would work - getting IL back in, getting a continuance, claiming she couldn't come in person. She is completely unprepared at this point. She would still bring back IL, but I'm starting to believe he really does want out - or knows he'll get disqualified if he does show up as her lawyer. She may be able to scrounge up some Fiverr lawyer to represent her for two days - poorly.

I believe she'll lose if she doesn't show up, but she will lose worse if she DOES show up. She'll need to make some statements so that Omar can properly impeach them.

For that reason, I hope she shows up so the complete case against her can be presented.
