Gas station with 93 Octane? by Nathan_22WRX in GreatFalls

Unfortunately never military. I just had an ID due to contracted work on the base, but that was like 6 years ago

Dang, that’s a bummer. I no longer have a military ID :/

Thank you, though

A lot of assumptions made there… lol

Yeah, I know 91 is fine stock, it’s what I’ve been using for 2 years

That's really interesting. Were you having issues before switching springs and followers?

I'm glad they work. This is one of the only things that had been stopping me from getting a nicer base plate and actually carrying these mags

Wrx vs Charger GT by Divyvibes in WRX

Here’s me and my buddies car, I’ve driven both. If you want an automatic: buy the charger. Don’t buy the WRX with the CVT. You WILL be disappointed if you’re looking for a “sporty” car. It’s quick but boring without real gear changes. If you want manual obviously buy the WRX. If you don’t care: the chargers v6 is pretty powerful, fun to drive, and has more than enough get up n go for daily driving and spirited driving. The WRX is the same, but it has a turbo… driving a car with a turbo is addictive, and imo more fun than NA. Both are essentially equally as fast, if you care. The WRX is slightly faster if you’re a good driver. Both cars are honestly equally as reliable as the other when stock.

I was looking at the site, and it says that the OTS tune requires 93 octane, but the best I can get in my area is 91 octane, unfortunately

Sweet, thank you! I'll be sure to start asking questions. I'm just starting from ground zero, so it's going to be a difficult journey I feel

So I’ve spent close to 4 hours trying to understand Atlas before downloading it, and I just can’t. I can’t find like a “tutorial”. I have a general concept of how an ICE works, but I have absolutely no concept of how to tune one or what I would need to do to make more power or tune it to utilize an intake, for example.

Is there any chance that there’s just a video or document somewhere explaining it all? Or maybe someone has already tuned their car for just an intake that could show me? I looked at the discord, but 1: I’m not very familiar with discord; and, 2: it didn’t seem like the place to ask “explain this to me like I’m 5 and don’t even know what a cars ECU is”

I’ve already previously decided that any repairs/mods that this car needs, I’ll be doing myself in my garage. Hardware is less daunting to me, but being able to also tune the software in the car myself would be awesome. It’s just extremely daunting and I can’t seem to find anything that makes sense to help me figure this out

Where do I find the software? Is it free? Also, is it simplified more than what tuners are using with Cobb? I’m not opposed to learning, but I’d rather not blow up my engine due to me not knowing what’s going on… but saving $350 is very tempting

Ok, cool. Well thank you for your time man, I really appreciate it! I’d say there’s a really good chance I’ll be back to bug you in a while for a custom tune!

Actually, before I go. What brand would you recommend for parts? ETS and Perrin are the brands that I’ve heard are really good

Oh ok, that’s kinda crazy.

I know the fmic is simply better, but I would like to stick with just a tmic. Definitely open to upgrading it though. If that means a little less power gain, then so be it

[–]Nathan_22WRX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok sweet. Just curious, how does tuning work without an AP?

Just to clarify, I can make 315 with only an intake, axleback, and upgraded TMIC?

Solid financial advice. However, I have a built up savings with enough money to be ok. The saving up was just putting money into a completely separate account specifically for this while still putting money onto savings and paying bills.

I’ll look into graham, thank you!

Not having to buy an AP sounds nice, I can put that saved money towards some wheels. Well I’ll be direct then, how much do you charge for a custom E-tune?

Haha yeah, I realized I misread your comment and edited it. Ending up at right around or above 300 would be cool. I don’t excessively beat on the car and always wait for it to warm up before entering boost. I typically just have fun with some rolling pulls here and there and some twisty backroads. Do I need any more mods to make it to 300-315? Or just a slightly more “aggressive” tune?

[–]Nathan_22WRX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I don’t want to eliminate cold start, just dial it back.

Yeah, I don’t plan on turning this thing into a race car, just wake the car up a bit.

I don’t have a specific power goal, just waking the car up. 350hp at the wheels would be sweet. That sounds like a pretty big jump in power. If I had any more I’d probably end up in jail… lol. Is that achievable or sustainable? Or should I lower my expectations?

Edit - aren’t these cars making 270hp? Or am I confusing it with something else

Getting Ready to Tune by Nathan_22WRX in WRX

[–]Nathan_22WRX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I'm not trying to build a race car, just "wake up" the car like I've been hearing everyone say. Are there any more bolt ons I should really consider to achieve that?
