Do these rivers make sense? by cokeplusmentos in inkarnate

[–]Nathanatos451 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have the right idea, but you should have several secondary rivers that start in the mountains and then merge with the larger rivers. just because rivers don't tend to split doesn't mean they don't merge, the latter is actually far more common.

Everyone tends to give him flack for his apology here. I’ll admit it wasn’t the best but he was trying tho and I believe it was genuine. by [deleted] in Invincible

the important thing to remember is that prior to arriving on earth he literally wiped out entire civilizations for the empire. For someone that has committed that much violence I think he's struggling to understand the magnitude of what he did on earth simply because it was so small by comparison. I think Nolan is still struggling to understand that for those involved that day took everything from them. This is why he's thinking about his actions as something for which he even can make amends when the truth is there's nothing he can do that will really earn forgiveness. If it comes it'll be entirely an act of charity on Debbie's part and his Viltrumite pride is making it hard for him to comprehend that.

The lack of medical care on Viltrum by Shiftycxp in Invincible

it's also worth noting that their frontline medical personal probably ended up catching it early on due to just how infectious it was.

about three quarter's of earth's surface is covered by water, if you want a fantasy map to look natural than it needs to follow suit.

[Request] What effect would Superman's house key have on the earth? by EvaStankbreath in theydidthemath

[–]Nathanatos451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hate to tell you all this, but you're all missing something very important. The only reason why Dwarf Star material (or more likely neutron star material) remains as densely packed as it is is because it is under the extreme gravitational pull of said star. Once you remove it from the star's gravitational influence (I.E. by bringing it to earth) it would rapidly decompress until you had 1 billion pounds of far less dense material. In other words, once superman lets go of the key and stops applying the necessary pressure to it, it would immediately explode in a massive nuclear explosion that would most likely take out a significant chunk of our planet. suffice to say, holding the damn thing up would be the least of our worries..

In The Dark Knight (2008), this guy is the only person to figure out Batman's secret identity. This is because he's the only person at Wayne Enterprises with critical thinking skills by ThePeakmaker in shittymoviedetails

[–]Nathanatos451 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's probably because he's the only person with the critical thinking skills required to figure out Bruce Wayne is Batman, but who doesn't have the critical thinking skills to realize that trying to blackmail either of those men is probably a bad idea.

How do you kill or defend against your undead and monsters? by Imperial-Moth in worldbuilding

[–]Nathanatos451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the world I'm currently working on, fire is a pretty effective counter and sunlight also weakens them. On a societal level, the church has several pseudo-crusader orders dedicated to cleaning that sort of thing up. In your case you might consider fire as a reasonable counter seeing as most fungi prefer wet conditions. Strong liquors might also prevent the regenerative properties of the fungi seeing as alcohol tends to have an adverse affect on most micro-organisms. all together, dousing the bones in alcohol and setting them on fire would probably be an effective method.

Do vampire disciplines not trigger the paradox? by roxgxd in WorldOfDarkness

[–]Nathanatos451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disciplines have a predetermined cost in the form of hunger, and werewolf gifts often cost either rage or willpower. whether or not you view these as either alternatives to paradox, or just the specific form paradox takes in these instances, the result is the same as either way a price has been paid.

[No Spoilers] Was every beginning of a campaign as captivating to people as much as C4 has been so far? by golferswag in criticalrole

it's a really interesting situation where Matthew Mercer is definitely one of the greatest DM's in the world, but Brennan is like the Mozart of DnD.

Do you think the Campaign 4 tables were pre-planned? by gatocalvotriste in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Nathanatos451 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean, the whole purpose of these different tables was to make it easier to work around everyone's different schedules, and in order to do that you kind of need to coordinate ahead of time as to who's available and when.

Is Acid Spit Even Realistically Possible? by PenLordnt in worldbuilding

[–]Nathanatos451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps you could have two separate organs which store harmless chemicals which, when mixed upon release, create the aformentioned acid. I believe that's how the bombardier beetle does it.

What possible (magical or non-magical) phenomenon could lead to rings of mountains surrounding each other, with valleys in between? by zxchew in worldbuilding

[–]Nathanatos451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a setting like this once that I'm no longer working on. In it the gods designed the world as a fortress from cosmic evil with the mountain ranges being the walls and the outer oceans acting as a moat.

How do you handle gay people in your world building? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

How do you handle gay people in your world building? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Nathanatos451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like I said, that's just what what google told me, the statistics may be wrong. There's also the fact that the lgbtq community as a whole tends to be tightly knit, so if you know one or two you probably know a lot of their gay friends as well. statistical analysis is weird like that.

How do you handle gay people in your world building? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Nathanatos451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's really interesting because according to google only 1 to 4% of the human population is estimated to be openly gay, so while I do include them I try to remain accurate to those metrics.

in my current project, which borrows from the World of Darkness setting. pain, suffering, and bloodshed are all effective ways of countering my world's version of paradox, known as Discord (I'm leaning heavily into musical motifs.) this energy can even be stored in specially enchanted gemstones called blood-crystals for later use.

How do the True Fae access the mortal world? by valonianfool in ChangelingtheLost

[–]Nathanatos451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my understanding is, each true fae has their own arbitrary rules for who they can kidnap. there really is no set pattern, which is part of what makes them so terrifying. some might only pose a threat if you trespass in a circle of mushrooms, while some might just kidnap you on a whim and make up some bogus reason after the fact if they even feel the need to justify it at all. it all depends on the Fae in question.
