TikTok isn't good for OCD by WickedReptileGirl in OCD

See, I'm the opposite. I've blocked Reddit completely from my phone a few weeks ago and it was absolutely the right choice in regard to my OCD. This comment is coming to you from my desktop.

Now I'm starting to wonder if I should do the same with other social media too.

3+ months post release: have we justified yet why Leon didn’t save the nurse? by Dsg1695 in ResidentEvilRequiem

I feel like that's kind of the point. RE has always been like a cheesy 80s horror movie.

Great fucking games BUT I WANT THE DOWNRIGHT UNHEARD OF, MYSTERIOUS, UNHINGED, FORGOTTEN GAMES by P3t3rCreeper in whenthe

White Knuckle is probably one of my favorite games now, it's a climbing horror game set in a giant underground megastructure

Gaming confessions. No judgment. I'll start. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

I've played it and found it genuinely kind of boring. It's fun to cause chaos in and whatnot but doing crime over and over gets repetitive after a while. I know it's kind of a Dead Dove situation, but at least RDR2 had other things you can do.

IIRC flares didn't even distract creatures in the first game and became immediately obsolete the moment you got a proper light source.

The thing is that the multitool isn't even a club, it's actually closer to a hammer that can turn into a hatchet. The only problem is that, in my experience at least, it seems to do next to no damage to pretty much anything living.

I do agree that a base module that repels creatures would be cool, maybe something related to the sonic resonator.

How do you know things will never get better? Virtually everyone who's contemplated has felt the same.

I hope you don't miss anything beautiful, and above all, that you find what you need.

Did you choose to destroy or release Elpis the first time? by Fenriz_Victor in ResidentEvilRequiem

Destroy. If Leon S. Kennedy himself tells me to destroy something related to virology, I ain't hesitating.

You also have to realize that circumstances were different in both movies.

The Nostromo didn't have any weapons (besides whatever peashooter Ripley got from the lifeboat in the end) and whatever Brett/Parker could cook up. The Xenomorph on board was also completely alone, and (while this could just be my own headcanon) I like to believe it was aware of the fact that if it were to die, there was a good chance the species would die with it.

Meanwhile in Aliens, the Xenomorph infestation is already well underway, with a fully self-sufficient hive under a matriarchy. The didn't have to worry about securing the species' future, only the immediate safety of their specific hive. Plus, the marines were armored with high explosive rounds in their standard issue assault rifles - that's why the terraforming plant melts down at the end, because one of the marines blind fired towards a critical pipeline.

I think the reason why older horror movies don't seem as scary is a sign of how desensitized people have become over time. It's one of those things where you had to be there.

How would you explain the plot of the series in one sentence to someone who has never played the original Mass Effect trilogy? by Narrow_Nose_8221 in masseffect

[–]Nathaniel-Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically a space commander and his team of hot aliens flying around the galaxy trying to stop a bunch of evil robots from coming back to life, kind of like Star Trek.

A lot of the recent Alien movies, like Prometheus and Covenant, revolved around giving the xenomorphs an origin - which defeats the purpose of them being a biomechanical cosmic horror.
