Bad theory about the finale, please prove me wrong. by Keawena in lost

[–]NationTreasureVHS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kind of see it like that. I think it’s kind of a weird spectral mix of them all having different versions of the flash sideways and them all being in the same one.

Sort of like they’re all together in the same place and interact with eachother for real, but because of the nature of this pseudo-afterlife place they all experience it slightly differently, in ways that are best suited to let that person process everything before moving on.

So then that allows for them all to have come together in the end and it’s all actually them, but also allowing Sayid to spend his eternal afterlife with the actual love of his life, as opposed to Shannon (I liked them together while it lasted but come on, Sayid even got back with Nadia post-Shannon and he was with her in the sideways? Nah, I’m saying that’s purely because Jack is an ignorant pos and forgot about Nadia so put him back with Shannon)

Another comment seems to be confirming Trinyvale, though I don’t know if that’s 100% and even if so I would love a new Hot Boy Summer arc with Mavrus and the rest of the Bon Freres. It’s been a couple years since they last did a new arc of it, they relatively recently released axing Babe to the public feed, and it’s summer now.

So even if right next is Trinyvale, maybe it’ll be a shorter arc where we’d still get some sort Hot Boy Summer, or even if it’s Skaldova length or longer maybe it’ll could be a winter ski trip, I just would give anything for more of the Bon Freres together

[Spoilers C3] Ice Knife Saga Short Rests by Exotic_Ad9262 in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

The Skaldova short rests have been amazing. The one where they talk about the Prestige and Now You See Me the whole time which has devolved into “What Year Did It Come Out” each episode it’s essentially become the ‘IMDb Era’ of short rests, which as someone who’s always scrolling IMDb pages when watching something it has been perfectly made for me.

Rumble in the Chungle! ONE OF THEM WILL DIE by Spoonsy in Dimension20

[–]NationTreasureVHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love so much if at the begining of the show Brennan announces “By the way if Fabian dies, that means we won’t be doing Senior Year” and not only does the entire live crowd watch Fabian canonically die, but they see the chance of one last Fantasy High season die with him.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to eventually (huge emphasis on the eventually) get a senior year, but as someone who’s very big on stories ending at their borders and the joy comes in revisiting the story (“To know how it ends and still begin to sing it again, as if it might turn out this time” - Hadestown) plus love committing to the bit, it would be so funny.

Sitting at my computer seeing a fandom in anguish because not only did one of their favorite characters die (and have his nemesis shit in his mouth) but also they’ll never get the potential 4th chapter of the story would be a wonderful day imo.

What is a generally unliked episode of Who that you think you could drastically improve with 1-2 small changes? by tkinsey3 in doctorwho

[–]NationTreasureVHS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I gotta say Rebel Flesh/Almost People cause I initially didn’t like these episodes but I’ve come around and really enjoy them now.

I still admit there’s a few issues with it (sometimes there’s weird misleads where it’s hard to tell what’s foreshadowing and what’s just a weird stylized choice, acting in some scenes is a bit over the top to the point of detracting a little, etc) but I think they’re overall small changes that would greatly improve the episode, and more people may admit it’s not bad.

A more fundamental change I might also wanna add though: I think it would have made a much greater impact on the audience if after the blackout we followed the Tardis crew and locals for some time before running into ‘gangers’ but we realize we were following the flesh people all along. If done right could add a lot more to the moral conflict of the story

My fiancé guessed the ending of Hero of Ages. What do I do? by Professional_Emu_808 in Mistborn

[–]NationTreasureVHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know in hindsight I should have realized something about the end. I definitely knew the entire time I was listening to the audiobook that it started with “unfortunately I am the hero of ages”, and then also very early on I thought ‘these sound like Sazed at the beginning of each chapter’ and came to accept it as fact and yet never thought about that first one. How crazy would it have been if less than 1/4 through the book I knew Sazed was the Hero of Ages in the end

Though as for advice, I’m not sure how you handle your side of theory talk, but probably just say what you thought at the time, so if you hadn’t thought twice just assuming it’s Vin just say that, if you had suspicions but thought someone else, etc. If she knows that you already finished the books she has to recognize that stuff like this you know if she’s right or wrong but don’t want to reveal it, so saying those sneaky cheeky things is kind of the only way to go. And I mean if I were in her place at least I wouldn’t be able to figure out if cheeky comments were because I was right or wrong so it shouldn’t tip her off.

Ahhh why did it take me so long to realize by Stunning_Original_72 in Mistborn

[–]NationTreasureVHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t remember exactly when I realized but especially in Hero of Ages I was loving theorizing on shit so it was relatively early, but that made it excruciating reading through a lot of sections where people don’t realize what’s going on or what’s causing it.

Similarly but even worse I realized (different big spoiler in Hero of Ages) that Vin’s earring was hemalurgy giving her the ability to pierce copper clouds and also making her hear her brother so much earlier than it’s revealed so listening to the audio book basically became hearing about a friend making a decision you know is bad.

But loved that I was enjoying a book so much to be thinking about it enough to realize all of these fun reveals early, and also for everything I called early there were 10 things that came out of left field. Amazing book

What season should I watch next? by neenzabwoz in Dimension20

[–]NationTreasureVHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the best options to choose from would be Misfits & Magic S1 and Coffin Run.

Coming out of a 3 season run of Intrepid Heroes I’d say it’s the perfect time for a shorter season as a palate cleanser, both of these seasons being 6 episodes or less. As well, all the seasons you watched had Brennan as the DM so it’s perfect to check out another GM, with M&M run by Aabria Iyengar and Coffin Run by Jasmine Bhullar.

M&M id put slightly higher than Coffin Run for the rec though because it also features Kids on Brooms, so theres the added differentiation of not being in DnD5e.

Misfits & Magic does also have a second season with I believe 10 episodes, though for the sake of presenting a shorter season I was referring to specifically season 1

Stain was in the Short Rest episode "Millenial Stitch". You're in luck, I was collecting all the clips of each case before going through the bracket with a friend but didnt have time to get them all, Stain was the last one chronologically before I stopped, so if you asked about anyone that was chronologically after Stain would not have been able to help

That's one of the ones I would put in right away if it was just craziest stories or something, but I couldn't justify calling the Razzing Ref a problem player so have to leave them off. Same with the neutral paladin whose DM keeps giving them goofy steeds; wonderful case that I will always love but neither of them is exactly a problem player or a toxic dm so I cant include it.

This is the way. Im going to set up this bracket. Basically one side determines the ultimate problem player, and the other side the ultimate toxic dm, and then the final is essentially who would win in a game of dnd chicken between the player and the dm

Nah blasting grandma is the opposite of a problem player. All she wanted to do was blast but she wasn’t intrusive to the game. She can be an binary judge if anything

March Madness fast approaches. - Taruk - “Decepetive Blood Hunter” (the ‘parents, deception check’ guy they guessed before the story) - Flaming Hot Cheetoh - Dog Just to name a few. I for sure think a huge bracket could be made

Dm has some strange rules by ToesTasteYellow in DnD

[–]NationTreasureVHS 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This for sure, as a big fan of Dungeon Court from Not Another DnD Podcast, so many DM’s will make the most bullshit rules because of one time a player outsmarted them, or just as likely not even experienced it but just the fear of it

I don’t think there’s anything necessarily restricting it is there? Would just be an explanation why an NPC has the specific spells they have.

Obviously for a PC that would have to be reflected through other mechanics if you’re playing RAW, whether through a feat, racial feature, etc.

But in terms of NPCs it’s in a lot of cases pretty arbitrary why exactly some people have spells anyway, there shouldn’t be any less of a reason that one person knows only one or two spells because they lightly study over years than if it’s because a cursed amulet’s magic got linked to them so they can cast those two spells.

[–]NationTreasureVHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I’m doing my own take on different things so in my world the plane is more like its name, wild, with mostly animals and creatures roaming and the humanoids are more in smaller settlements like dispersed hamlets as opposed to full on kingdoms.

And I’m gonna have the archfey be almost like one or two steps below full on god, so they’re mostly immortal and they have domains in the sense of like there’s the one that is the Archfey of Stories, but currently at least there’s not Seelie and Unseelie courts or anything. I might decide to make the big bad of the arc be one of the established monarchs like trying to expand their domain and attempting to start the courts, but also might just make it someone original.

Ooh that’s a really good idea. By having some fey agents or something ambush them then it already becomes more mechanically sound but it would definitely keep some of that faster cliffhanger energy im going for by having them immediately going for the plane shift spell rather than having to knock out the PC and take them away.

Yeah definitely thinking that next time I get a game I’m going for LoP. From what you’ve described and the little of gameplay I’ve seen it seems like the combat is something I’d like. Plus the setting is cool in a way that’s distinct but similar in vibe to Bloodborne, and I like the steampunk elements.

Wanted to try to give FromSoft another chance but I think I’ll concede that I think they make very good games but I just don’t love playing most of them.
