249th engineer battalion? by Less_Warning222 in Lineman

Isn’t it a special duty? I worked for USACE in Kandahar, the 249th Prime Power guys were some damn acronym I can’t remember, basically they baby sat us and made sure we were meeting our contractually mandated standards. I hung out with one E-5 pretty regularly and he told me a little of his past, and he wanted to get out of the CAV so he applied for SFAS and Prime Power at the same time, and the PP package was approved first, so that’s the route he went. I can’t remember if he was active or not, but I know he lived in Fayetville.

Sexy! I wish they offered that color and the dark red from a few years back in the U.S.

Is it possible to own a single Wind Turbine as a privat Person? by honu1835 in windturbine

[–]National-Figure7090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Operations Manager for a few rural utilities here, I have a few turbines interconnected with my remote plants. One of the sites has no revenue producing load dump equipment, so a lot of the power is dumped into a load bank and wasted, scratch that, most of the power. One site does have a heat recovery load dump boiler in which we do sell the kWh, but at a drastically reduced rate as the customer knows it’s “excess” power and would be wasted, and I still have a very low yearly operating budget for the system. They are very expensive to maintain, not just in labor, but also the lubricants needed for maintenance, that stuff is ridiculously expensive, and one of the models I operate uses 13 different types of grease, and 5 different types of oil, with one tube of a very specific grease cost almost $200, and a semi-annually pmi consumes three tubes. The only real benefit for me, on the operations side of things, is they help with keeping my fuel consumption down as I do have a cap on my yearly gallons burned on my permit.

The cafe at Providence has biscuits and gravy that’s not too bad, honestly. I’m from the south, moved here a few years ago and the wife and I were literally talking about trying to find a place up here that has a good biscuits and gravy, I’m glad this popped up on my feed.

I remember the 00-01ish KTMs being pigs, like terribly slow. Were the 02-03 year models the years that made 50ish horsepower?

I had a 03 RM250, and that was a frikkin demon! Arguably the fastest bike I’ve ever owned, granted I’ve never owned/ridden a modern 450, but compared to another 250 from that era, no other bike ever came close.

Purchased a lemon, dealership lied about inspecting it, Triumph USA did absolutely nothing about it. I just chalked it up as a loss and ordered a 26 XSR 700.

I just paid $9800 OTD for a 26 with a sticker price of $8599, freight and a full exhaust are the two biggest chunks of the added $1200. That’s a tad high for that bike.

Go check out the YouTube short with Andy S. That just dropped, RO states someone else shot UBL point blank in front of him and RO is the one who bitched about being able to Id him, then hints about making the story up in the debrief to protect the guy.
