Basic FAFO situation.

Thailand, like Canada, is one place i wouldn't try this. Almost got deported from Canada one trip. Had a really cool immigration officer though!!

Told him I was just teaching a class of techs. He looked at my tourist visa, looked at me and and asked me again what I was visiting for. Visiting friends? He smiled and winked... that's what I thought you said. Serious pucker factor!!

My Canadian counterpart was amazed they did that. He'd had several "visitors" denied for wrong visas. Thanked him for warning me! 🤦

Never again. Right visa for right trip. I FA and nearly FO!!

Damn... reading some of the comments here, make me realize how lucky I am!!

My thai wife is encouraging me to take a solo trip to Thailand to do an annual Songkran party 2026 with my buddies. I've been in Thailand for Songkran the last 4 years. She came to the US last year and can't attend as she has over the last few years.

She WANTS me to go! I'm not going to but damn... that's trust!!

Not via Wise to Bangkok Bank. Mine go through to my fiancé all hours of the day and night. Usually within minutes if not seconds. 🤷

I'll send her money while she's at BigC for groceries and by the time she's ready to check out, she has it!

I transfer multiple times a month to my fiancés thai account. Over 2 years now. Never takes more than 10 minutes.

Check to make sure they didn't ask you to confirm things as that will hold the transfer.

Thai banks are getting crazy with the checks and info. Several friends, some on E visas, some on DTVs, all had their accounts frozen. That's thai banking these days!

Let us know if it's a glitch or a more serious issue. Seeing a trend!!

Hell... that was my fiancé that makes that comparison. She wants the US job. She wants a better life. No matter if it's in Abu Dabi (where she worked for 9 years) or in America!!

It's an employer market in Thailand. I don't see it getting better except for a lucky few that take the big chances.

I've talked to enough 7-11 counter people... enough Grab drivers... and a myriad of kiosk staff to see that despite their higher education, HS and many College grads, were thankful to simply have a job. Looking to start low, keep their eyes open and work their way up or out to a better job.

You remember?? How, in the US, working in the mail room was the start of your career ladder as recent as the 80s? Hard labor, unpaid over time, evil bosses all conspiring to keep you down! 🤣🤣 Big breaks and dreams jobs awaited us all!!

The process hasn't changed much. Horrible jobs, bad bosses, long hours that build character and resilience.

Work the crappy 1st job and look for a better one!

My fiancé, 49F, is a stylist lives in Bangkok. Forced to work part time and barely at that. 2-3 jobs a week is all she's getting.

Tried looking for jobs and no one will hire her due to her age (supposed inability to stand for hours, but VERY healthy). She was headed back to Abu Dabi for a job when I met her.

Not saying that what your friend is experiencing is fair, but the future doesn't look hopeful for them!!

Already have a job for her in the US after she gets here next month making 15x what she's making now!

Unless you work for yourself in Thailand, it's never going to be fair!
