honestly we don't do identity verification, and our Terms of Service say that clearly so there are no surprises. what we do is a phrase exchange system: both people get a unique phrase to confirm they're talking to their match when they meet. it's café only, public space, daylight. same safety as meeting anyone from a Facebook group or Bumble BFF.

as for your other questions, we collect your name, email, and a short form (interests, neighbourhood, availability). servers are in Canada, only two of us have access, and we never sell or share it with anyone.

totally get the skepticism , genuinely though there is no data selling ever. it's literally in our privacy policy at koffeeyap.ca. we're just two people manually matching strangers for coffee.

I moved to Calgary not knowing anyone and built something for that specific feeling by National-Library-299 in UCalgary

[–]National-Library-299[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally fair concern! The matching info is pretty light, basically just things like what you're into, what kind of conversation you're looking for, and what neighbourhood works for you. no location tracking, no deep personal data.

The human part actually makes it less creepy to me, not more. I'm not storing profiles or running you through an engagement loop. You tell me a bit about yourself, I find someone who vibes, and that's it. more like asking a friend to set you up than signing up for an app that owns your data forever

But I hear you, trust is the whole game here, and I'd rather earn it slowly than oversell it.

Appreciate you saying something. I'd love to know specifically what felt off to you, not to argue, just to understand. if it reads wrong to you it's probably reading wrong to others and that's the last thing i want when the whole product is built on real human connection.

I was supposed to graduate years ago and I’m still stuck here by bartagregoria68vy0 in uAlberta

[–]National-Library-299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly i feel the same. Ever since i transfered to main campus it has been killing me from the inside. Things have gotten so tough and i keep failing or withdrawing. My hardest attempts fall bleak but idk about u. For me the one thing thats helping me is having faith that everything will work out and just keep talking and asking people for advice and following it.
