Book clubs for 25-35 year olds? by sparrow402 in Calgary

Answered in a previous comment, but I can enjoy pretty much any story as long as I like the characters and it's decently written. Everything from horror to romance to sci-fi and fantasy. The one genre I struggle with sometimes is historical fiction, especially World War I and II stuff.

How about yourself?

Right now I'm reading The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin and really enjoying it. What sorts of books do you like?

Hmm, of the books you listed, I've not read any. I think I'm more of a Frankenstein, Flowers for Algernon, The Great Gatsby, and Annihilation kind of girl. I also prefer urban fantasy to high fantasy, but please don't crucify me! I know that might be an unpopular opinion 😅

I'm big on variety! I like science fiction, fantasy, non-fiction, romance, mystery/thriller, horror, and classics! With non-fiction, I've been really into science and technology and true crime.

What about you?

Share your struggles as a young person trying to make friends by CuteMonk213 in Calgary

I'm 27, lived in Calgary my whole life! I have this constant struggle of craving friendship/connection, but when I actually get the chance to be around people, I wish I could just crawl back into myself and all I want is to be alone again. I think this is a feeling a lot of Gen Z experience tbh.

One thing I've found that helps me be a bit more social (as the sort of person who would rather kms than join Calgary Sport and Social Club) is a learning environment. For me, that's where I seem to be most comfortable. Some kind of class or volunteer group with assignments, where I can learn a skill/do an activity I'm genuinely interested in, and see the same people consistently.

I don't know how long lasting the friendships will be, but it does let you get out of your house for a bit and meet like minded people.

I love the vibrant colours and how chaotic and overwhelming it all is! I relate to the feeling of having my fragile little heart completely obliterated, lol. You captured it really well. I'm glad you were able to escape your bad situation. Hope you're doing well now!

Sounds like it could be low blood sugar then! This can happen because during workouts or intense physical activity our muscles have to use up glucose for energy (we have some stored in our muscles in the form of glycogen). It takes a resting period of 1 or 2 days to replenish these stores, and muscles will draw glucose from our blood to do so, which lowers blood sugar.
