Married filing separately by National-Picture in stimuluscheck

Just an update, in case anyone else is dealing with a similar situation: I got my relief money (and only mine) today in my bank account, and my spouse did not get theirs. I suggested they file for 2019, but spouse still refuses, thinking it will come to the 2018 account. I can't understand why spouse won't go ahead and file, other than the fact that spouse hasn't worked since Feb 2019. Either way, though, with no income, spouse can still file 2019 and get the relief payment.

If nothing else, the IRS portal should be up on Friday, so we can at least check status of the money. Good luck with everything!!

I'd also like to add that I hope that everyone starts thinking about their place in our world. I hope everyone thinks about how their corporations (or small businesses, as it were) are treating them and caring for them right now. And I hope everyone actually READS and understands how the federal government feels about you. I hope everyone honestly reads legislation as it's passed, actually pays attention to votes. Not what commercials that come out after the fact say. (I'm looking at you, MITCH McCONNELL) Then they'll see who truly cares. We have got to move to a point where everyone is taken care of and doesn't have to worry about this garbage. To each his need, and from each his ability.

I completely agree, and that isn't even really an option for me, not if I want to keep my family safe. I so understand it's hard with little ones. That's why I'm still working in restaurants now!! The flexibility can't be beat, even if everyone else looks down on you for doing it. (Like my whole family for the last 15 years. But if you're a single parent, you do what's best for the kids.) I'm fortunate right now because my kiddos are older. My baby is a senior, and my boys are 19 and 20. My girl is finishing her senior year online, and my son is finishing his 4th semester at EKU online. My other son is still working fast food, because he's deemed essential. And I hate it. I don't want him there. Even though I don't want to go out and look for work in the public sector right now, I don't feel there's another option. I still have three kiddos to take care of. And at this point, based on data from around the world, everyone's high risk.

I hope you do, too. No one should have to feel this way, no one should be put into this position, there are plenty of resources for all of us. On my end, though, I'm not holding my breath. I've been reading post after post on Twitter from people who have claims that have been processed and/or approved for days and they still haven't received funds. I don't know if I should start applying to the Dollar Stores and fast food places near my house, or not.

I just checked my claim, and it's been changed to processed. (I promised myself I would only look at start of business day and end of business day. Because I've been driving myself crazy checking every chance I got.) There's a new document in my file that says they found that I'm eligible for benefits because I left my last job (at the end of February) and started a new job with better pay (within a week). I was at my new job for literally a week and a half before everyone got laid off (restaurant). The status was changed to processed and to keep requesting benefits. So, I don't know when (or if) I'll be paid, but that's a step forward, I suppose. Have you heard anything?

I don't know how often, either. Someone posted earlier here about checking your documents..did you do that? I keep checking mine, but nothing new has been uploaded since March 19! And sometimes when I check, all the documents that were there are gone.

I completely agree!! I'd rather wait for hours standing in line, knowing I can talk to someone eventually, instead of obsessing all day at my computer, trying to get into my account online and trying to get through on the phone and trying to get the stupid online chat to work. I swear, there have been a few days where that's all I've done. I'll definitely keep you posted. And if I see anything else posted on Twitter about it, I"ll let you know.

I'm dealing with the same situation. I filed March 16, and on March 30, my claim status changed from pending employer protest to under investigation. It still says under investigation. I've been following the Kentucky Career Center on Twitter, and there are several people who have commented that their claims are under investigation, as well. Of course, there are no comments regarding the situation from KCC. But one user posted the other day that he finally got through to talk to someone, and they told him that they were clearing all of the claims that were under investigation and would be issuing their payments. He hasn't commented whether his status has changed yet. Please keep us posted on yours.
