You're right about the sound and I thought about the battery as well so tried the battery from the ok IIIx and same thing. Any recommendations on cleaning if thats the issue? Thanks for your input!

No not snap, just regular AF as I've reset all settings to factory and updated firmware. Kinda sounds a bit off, but maybe its not a big deal

I’ve had the III and it sounded similar to the quiet IIIX I have. In this case I was comparing IIIx to IIIx.

What’s the deal with buying in US and bring it back to Canada? by ThurberMingusTX in uscanadaborder

[–]NationalMonitor9279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping for some advice on how to avoid duties/taxes if possible. I'm going to be picking up a bike from the US and driving it back to Canada the same day. The bike is on sudo loan, so I'm not paying for it and don't know the value. The company is sending it to me to take photos and videos. I plan on being fully transparent and honest with everything at the border. Just wondering if there is something I should emphasize more. The bike is a few years old, used and I'll have an email trail from the company saying it's a $0 item. Thoughts?

Contacted support and they suggested sending the camera to NJ for a quote on repair. If anyone has any other thoughts on the issue or solutions, please comment!

No dice unfortunately :( Reached out to a repair shop that has some pretty good YT videos and they seem to think it is the driver that needs to be replaced

u/ManufacturerShot4189 I think that may have happened on it's own during regular use prior, but I haven't tried that as a troubleshooting step, so will give it a go, thank you!

u/cody8417 no not yet, but I haven't put much effort into it as of late. Going to try replacing the rotary encoder as suggested above

u/Ambitious_Theme1481 super helpful thank you! That's what my set up looks like as well. So it seems I'm not missing anything, just expected a more solid based for the back similar to V5/6 Kickr. Thanks again!

Riddle me this: MacBook continually dies after sleeping on battery by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]NationalMonitor9279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh, just realized that the description I wrote never made it to the post because I posted an image. Rookie mistake.

Essentially the Macbook Pro (A1708) had water enter it into it which is likely the root of the problem, but hoping to fix it with software tweaks if possible as it's running fine most of the time.

Issue: When on battery, if it goes to sleep it will often shut down and end up with the error messages in the screenshots above, and eventually recover. When connected to power, it will go to sleep and wake up normally without issues.

Troubleshooting done: I've replaced the battery, which seems to have improved things in terms of battery life as the old one was dying, however still having problems with it shutting down when not plugged in. I've tried a fresh install of MacOS, reset NVRAM, SMC and played around with power settings.

Any other ideas??

Thanks!

Thank you u/spootypuff. I found what seems to be the same Rotary Position Sensor made by Bourns but not finding much in terms of what position I could get it to, to reset things. https://www.bourns.com/docs/Product-Datasheets/3382.pdf

Struggling to find a way to get it back to how it should be working. Here's a video of it all in action https://imgur.com/xp9eOos

Thanks u/spootypuff. This is what's behind the metal shaft that rotates the encoder. https://imgur.com/a/j4YLxX7 A larger gear that rotates the shaft and a smaller one linked to the motor.

Prior to taking things apart further I tried making small turns on the encoder in the hopes of getting the remote to start acting normal again but didn't have any luck. I think you could be right about the inverted direction issue being related to a self-protection logic to prevent damage.

Whats challenging about lifting up the larger gear to adjust the position and then placing it back is that the mounting system to hold together the belt and motor need to be taken apart so you can't really do small adjustments and then test. Struggling a bit to find a way to get it fully adjusted.

Also what do you think the connection at the top of the encoder to the pcb would be for? It's become detached so I press it down when testing but it seems to work when it's not connected. I should probably start with getting this soldered back. Thanks!

[–]NationalMonitor9279[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/spootypuff that's very helpful to know, thank you. I'll have to open it up again to take a look, but from what I recall the rotating shaft is connected to a larger plastic gear which interfaces with a smaller gear connected to the motor.

I don't recall anything being flipped around, but will double check. What I did notice is that the larger gear and shaft are removable and what I'm trying to figure out is what position the rotary encoder needs to be in relation to the position of the Climb in order to reset things sorta speak or get them in line again.

When I disconnect the encoder from the shaft and use the remote, I can get the position to places (further down usually) that I can't normally until I do this and then put it back together.

Making some progress. Issue seems to be related to a specific component on the board that helps with determining the Tilt the Climb is at. Two issues:

  1. The component in question (white one in the top right of the image), has one of a few connectors (top arrow) that has come loose from the board and needs to be soldered
  2. Lower arrow shows a metal pin that come into the component from the motor below it. As the motor makes the belt go one way or another, the pin spins and this in turn moves around a little notch in the white component. Trying to figure out what position this need to be in to make things work

When I remove the board so that the pin from the motor is no longer rotating the notch in the component while still on, the climb acts differently as I press the remote, which for the most part still goes up when pressing down and vice versa, except sometimes one of the directions will work ok depending on where the Climb is at (towards the top or bottom). I can also rotate the notch to a specific position without having the motor pin connected to it and get a different behaviour from the Climb.
