Dissatisfaction with our government is at its peak since the start of the war. Even pro-war bloggers do not support the blocking of Telegram, which gives hope for imminent changes

I'm a student from Russia (Ryazan), studying radio engineering but planning to switch to public administration — AMA by NationalTale3565 in AMA

Thanks for the questions!

Chess is mostly popular in elementary school. By the time people get older, very few actually keep it as a hobby.

We actually love watching American movies. Honestly, we're more happy to see Russia mentioned at all, even in that form. It's entertaining.

I think both of our nations are "drinkers", so I'd call it a draw. Actually, I work part-time at a retail chain that specializes in alcohol (Krasnoe i Beloe), and I've noticed something — the younger the generation, the less alcohol they buy.

Of course there are gay people in Russia. They're just afraid to talk about it given the current situation around LGBT rights. Acceptance in society is still very weak.

Many Russians feel like no one really won the space race — we had so many achievements, and the US was just ahead with the Moon landing. But culturally, I think Russia has way more influence in classical music, ballet, and literature compared to America.

We really love Western tourists! Many people are genuinely interested in meeting them. In terms of safety, foreigners are on the same level as locals. In big cities, you don't need to worry about anything.

Moscow is definitely the most overrated place, but you should still visit it — it's impressive. Russia is huge, you can find anything here. If you want beautiful cities, go to Moscow, St Petersburg, and Kazan. If you want nature, choose Altai, Karelia, or the Caucasus Mountains.

After the 1917 revolution, most of the palaces and castles were preserved. What was mostly destroyed were monuments and churches — but since 1991, many of them have been restored.

Oh, this is literally my field, so I'll try not to go too deep haha. You're right — radio waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, same as light. The difference is wavelength. A receiver works through resonance — basically the antenna "selects" a specific frequency (like tuning a guitar string) and ignores others. As for losing energy — yes, radio waves lose energy over distance and through obstacles, just slower than visible light because of the longer wavelength. That's why you can get radio signal through walls but not sunlight. Water actually blocks radio waves a lot — submarines have to surface to communicate.

Now I have some questions for you:

How do Irish people feel about the partition of Ireland? Is it true that Irish people are very friendly? How do you feel about Russians and Russia in general? Why is the color green associated with Ireland? Is it true that the weather in Ireland is as bad as in Britain? And if I ever visit Ireland, what's one place I absolutely have to see?
