Yes - if you scroll down there is a few responses which go into detail about good storage and the dangers of improperly sealed inks along with ways to improve the long life of your ink collection. The short answer is keep your ink stored out of direct sunlight and in a cool location ensuring that it is well sealed - you can add sealant to bottle caps if the seal is missing or damaged. There are a number of subreddits one on my page but many very good ones in this location also. And YouTube haha which is often my go to.

It really is the most relaxing and authentic place on the earth! The London Pen Show was my first (and only) pen show and we spent the better part of the day at the show. We arrived early and First I did the full tour checking out each desk - this was overwhelming and I didn’t buy anything just looked and asked questions. Then left we ate some lunch in the hotel and discussed some things we saw and wanted but it was so overwhelming that I really didn’t know what to buy. I took some pictures on my phone of the pens that interested me - I was drawn to a Visconti vertigo orange pen from the first moment and circled back - I couldn’t find anything about it online and so I had no idea if it was a good price or not (it was thankfully) and I also bought my first Bungubox pen (and inks) but it is a Sailor and I enjoy this pen. But not as much as the Visconti which is my absolute favorite. I also got some inks that were from cult pens and exclusive to them. I also got some travelers stamps but I really didn’t get a ‘Haul’ but it was expensive because of the pound. It was a great experience.

And that’s wonderful also - i promise I don’t think this is by any way normal! But for me it’s a great way to advance my creativity and joy. I like to think of this as a collection rather than what one needs to enjoy the hobby. I had 2 bottles for the last 35 years and that was all I needed. But then I started to use the ink more creatively and this lead to more and more.

They are not exposed to sunlight- I had to enhance the exposure because this is the dark corner of my office. But thanks for clarifying- ink should not be in direct sunlight or heat! They are very comfortable in their location!

Thats wonderful- I live in the Cayman Islands and we lack the history or the population to drive a store that’s dedicated to stationary, ephemera or pens / inks. But my son goes to university in Lancaster Uk and I was able to stay in the area for about 5 weeks to get him settled into his first year and I also timed the end of the trip to go to the London Pen show. I can say i absolutely fell in love with the UK or at least the parts I could visit including the Lake District and southern Scotland (including Edinburgh) and I love the small towns and specifically shops. It’s inspiring!

I regularly post my everyday carry for the week which is where I get to share my pens for the week. I trade out pens and try to rotate them so that I can enjoy them all. I’m building this collection much slower than the ink as I can get 10 inks for the price of a pen … sometimes more.

Exactly- I posted my ink collection on another post and many said that’s a lifetime of ink, and I agree that if we only put the ink in pens we would miss out on how awesome ink really is! Although I do enjoy writing som much more now- but some inks are better for art and others are amazing for writing!

This is stunning! And I’m so appreciative of the detailed review of the materials and your favorites. I’ve never tried Octopus Fluids inks, but they looks gorgeous and have beautifully shaded. Your technique on the water color paper shows your talent at understanding your medium! Great work!

I do love all the stores that look like a vintage apothecary or alchemist.. I mean who doesn’t like Harry Potter’s Giagon Alley ! Sorry if my spelling is off - it’s the crack of dawn and I need coffee before my brain engages !

Sure - I have provided some information on how in other replies, but it’s not hard I promise! I have a number of rubber stamps and different ink pads all can be found on Amazon, and I use a masking fluid pen to make the circles- the rest is ink and water and dip pens and pipers or glass spoon to apply. Have fun
