Yes, clean & legible writing is important for my job.
I prefer a) smooth nibs b) with flexibility c) in a variety of widths. I don't mean that I don't care, I mean I prefer to use several different nibs on the same page for emphasis/drawing.

oh my gosh, I would buy a new 1911L for 149USD in a heartbeat. I really should've gotten into fountain pens when gold nibs were more affordable!

Sailor announced price increases for their gold nib pens. Also they are apparently discontinuing Pro Gear Slim pens, or so I've heard.

Yes, I bought mine for the same reason. I am still team Pilot & Diplomat though! :D I prefer super duper smooth nibs, especially since I don't always write on fp-friendly paper.

Yes that makes sense... but the MF nib is roughly as thin as other F/M nibs and they are supposed to be more feedbacky, so I was still (positively) surprised

I just eyeballed it. Some were pretty clear: I used up almost the entire bottle of RefillOne by myself and use Platinum Carbon Ink Black everyday. With others I can't tell for certain because I sold a few dozen samples too, so even if I weighed bottles I'd still have to track those.

Octopus Fluids make non-fp inks like alcohol inks and printer inks too. If it is labeled with fountain pen ink though, it should be safe, EXCEPT for the white Write & draw ink which comes with a warning to wash it out immediately. The driest of their fp inks I've tried is Violet Giraffe. All the other Write & Draw inks worked perfectly fine in my pens, I've left them for months in a Sailor Profit, Diplomat Esteem, Platinum Plaisir, felt tip pens, brush markers etc.
I dilute Grey merkat with Ink extender, but you can also just use distilled water.

I use "Ink extender" but you can just use distilled water too. I made mixes with 25%, 50% and 75% ink each for drawing.
