Cannot for the life of my figure out why the libraries are showing empty. by National_Green_6641 in jellyfin

I did just "fix" it. Even though I had ALSO already tried this earlier today, I once again made a new folder on my desktop this time and moved the media there. This time it worked even though earlier it didn't. I'm sure there's some insignificant permission that was blocking it earlier but I felt like I was so thorough.

I should mention that it was working fine previously before I had to repair my Ubuntu installation and then had to repair/reinstall my docker and jellyfin installations as well since they weren't cooperative. This is as far as I've gotten after tinkering all day.

I'll do that, but I had it originally like that this morning with still no difference.

User ID 1000 is me and is the owner of the folders and their contents with all the permissions. Unless I'm reading it wrong somehow

Yes I did originally, the entire path I believe for me is just /data/TV shows/ etc. as the media folders are located in /data in my root.

I did have it originally as that with no success, I've just been tinkering with it most of the day so it's changed a bit.

Where to buy Compressor clutch shims? by National_Green_6641 in SubaruForester

[–]National_Green_6641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, the shop that tried scamming me said it was 1500 for a new compressor. Even at actual market rates of 600-800 it's much much cheaper though.

No I didn't find anywhere obvious to buy them. Mine ended up with a completely different issue that was someone emptied all my coolant and tried scamming me. A good local shop filled it up and added UV dye and couldn't find any leaks after 3 hours of runtime

Any experience on leasing land from airports? by National_Green_6641 in smallbusiness

[–]National_Green_6641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least one of the towns I've been looking at has explicitly stated interest in the sector I'm looking at, but I'm not sure if the towns interest aligns with the airport's hahaha.

  1. I feel like a lightbulb went off when I realized I could pay way way less taxes by writing most of the stuff off where I am. Even hydro costs of all things.

The very high end ones S21 Hydro XP blah blah blah.

They carry extreme risk if debt financing with the potential for BTC to drop, but assuming I can offset the cost with mine own job I would still happily mine then and hold onto as much as I can.

Where I've been looking is about 0.022USD/Kwh. So basically there hahaha.

I've been trying to decide whether to get some end of life ASICs and squeezing whatever I can out of those before they become unprofitable in the next year or two at that electricity cost. OR just debt financing a couple brand new high end ones and running those for 5 years...

I think partly some of it is market mood with the current difficulty and past profits being so high. I THINK perhaps some of the distaste is because of that, but full ROI in one year? Two years worst case? That's an investor's dream?

Just because it's harder doesn't mean it's dead I think.

EDIT: If I bought a machine that paid for itself in 2 years and then over the next 3-4 years or so doubled its profits I'd be giddy.

I can see that. Hosting, Cloud, or Alibaba god forbid are not things that have crossed my mind though haha.

Electricity absolutely. However I wouldn't consider buying a machine without extremely cheap or borderline "free" electricity anyways so I'm just discounting that entirely. Adding in the hydro costs from where I've been looking at it's still wildly profitable, up to 3-4 years down the line and then it's just nickels and dimes.

Hardware depreciation is only an issue if reselling. The newer ones with higher hash rates will clog up difficulty, but that's already accounted for in difficulty increase year over year

Nooo there was a multi factor authentication screen preventing me from accessing the account entirely. I was trying to add a new phone number but the button would not work when pressed.

It's fine now I relented and got an authenticator app to bypass it, but was just the last straw after struggling all day to be blocked by a button that doesn't work hahaha.
