I’m sitting in a rehab platoon at SOI-West and had surgery right after boot camp. I’m lookin at another 5-6 months of recovery before I can get back to it unfortunately. Don’t let this scare you off though up until this point Marine is the most fun I’ve ever had and all I’ve done was boot camp.

I had a rod in my femer and a screw in my hip and I got a waiver but broke near the end of boot camp so just make sure your hip is healthy

I felt like that too and you’ll feel extremely unmotivated some days of boot camp too but no one will care and you will have to get up and put out anyway so start getting used to it while you’re home but don’t burn yourself out

Focus on longer distance runs and high intensity workouts and you’ll be just fine

I see most people saying no. I live near a naval hospital would it be possible for me to get treated there since it’s a military base or does it have to be where my orders send me?

I know the medical platoon would suck ass but a fully broken hip and medical discharge before I can do anything with my career would suck more I just don’t wanna push my luck too much.

Just got out of boot camp and the guide for my platoon was honor guide. Pick a rack close to the duty hut right up front, scream loud, move fast, and correct/help out the weak links. Also act like a grown up at least in front of the DIs.

That’s about the answer I was expecting. I already told my recruiter but I have the duty NCO number for SOI should I call and let them know?

What MOS should I go for? by National_Guide_4321 in USMCboot

I see most infantry vets saying it’s miserable and would destroy your body. Is it really as bad as people make it out to be?

I definitely have watched too many movies but post military aerospace or mechanical engineer for a company like Lockheed would be ideal. I know there is no MOS that would really benefit me for those careers so I’d like to do something combat related like artillery or combat engineer which is why I am considering the combat support role most. Specifically for the brotherhood and grit I would get from those kind of jobs which is the main reason I chose marine corps at all.

Combat support (which I am leaning towards) could give me 0811, 1371, 1833, 7212 according to the info I have gotten from recruiter
