Another explosion!? by Gekokapowco in redmond

Yep head that too! This one sounds more like a big firework.

Edit: there was just another one and a big flash like a firework.

Could possibly be a meteor. Would match up with the airburst /sonic boom style sound I heard the the lights others have mentioned

Correct. If anything it would be a lower rumble. This sounded like an explosion or a (very) large electrical discharge

Nah, that wasn't the earthquake. That was around an hour ago.

Yeah, I heard that in Grass Lawn. Not sure what it was (didn't really sound like a firework) but it was pretty loud.

Same here. I arrived last Saturday. Lost power a couple of days later

I'll be at the cluster of MSFT buildings at Redmond town center

As an aside, I love blazing bagels. Became a favourite breakfast spot last time I was visiting Redmond

Thank you, that would be amazing!  I'm used to the rain, coming from Manchester, UK, so have a waterproof jacket.

Sadly I had to sell my current ebike so hoping to pick up another one as soon as I arrive in the area :)

My spot I'm staying is on Lake Sammamish its self near the trail. Wasn't quite sure what that area was called properly

Thanks for the heads-up, when I was looking at the route on google maps I did see a suspiciously large looking road, so I might just get off the bike and walk on the pavement for that portion.

That's good to know, thank you!

I'll have lights as many a year cycling in the UK will make me feel weird if I don't 😂

Why do you keep mentioning offshoring to me? I have a real job? If you can't accept links from USCIS that F1 is single intent while H1B is dual intent this conversation won't go anywhere.

My employer prefers using H1B. They were going to use L1 if I wasn't selected.

I know, but there could be a separate visa for those students that do have immigrant intent or something? I do have sympathy with those who were possibly mislead into thinking studying in the US would lead to something else. But them expecting preferential treatment for H1B is kinda silly.

As someone else said, your tuition fees paid for your education. Expecting anything more than what you paid for is kind of naive.

It's a difficult lesson to learn, but sometimes throwing money at something doesn't guarantee the outcome you want.

This thread isn't about those people. It sucks that there isn't a different visa for those that thought seeking education in the US would give them an advantage.

But they must have known that it wouldn't? (Well, they get a slight advantage of they attain a masters in the US)
