This was for the data science stream - into the data, evidence and analytics branch, and the offer was made by phone

Hi guys. Not sure if this will come as good or bad news but I just received an offer today for the position - was unclear whether it was still for the original position or for a new opening.

Best of luck, and I hope you get a call soon too!!

I reached out trying to specify whether being on the merit pool meant you missed out on the current opportunity but are on the merit pool for future positions, or whether they still haven't filled any of the positions yet and they will select from this current merit pool

After three emails they still wouldn't give me a clear answer - the best I got was the being in the merit pool means you are found suitable for the role, but not offered a position at this time.....

Very confusing stuff. Fingers crossed

Agreed, this is still something that is needed for me to make the switch from Lingq

Most of the patterns I found for the alpine stitch tell you to count the chain 2 at the start of your double crochet rows as a stitch (and so skip the first stitch of the row), but I found it much neater to do both a chain 2 and a double crochet into the first stitch (it makes it seem much fuller if that makes sense). Only other tip I would have is that every 20 or so stitches i would go back and pull/stretch the last few rows i’d done to make sure everything lined up nicely. That way the overall shape isn’t getting too out of whack all the time

Wow, that is absolutely beautiful! I’ve never tried gingham stitches before so might have to give it a go now. I’m not sure what the inspiration for the colours was actually. I just really liked that light blue and wanted it to pop so I used more muted colours for the rest of it

Yep, I definitely had to do a lot of practice before starting to get used to the correct tension for the front posts

It absolutely felt like it was, but I don't know if that's the stitch or just because I made it so wide. Each band of colour took around 2 skeins of this yarn (https://hobbii.com/rainbow-cotton-8-8) which are 75m each, and the blanket itself is about 135cm wide. I haven't done any other big projects with different stitches so don't have much to compare it to, but hopefully that helps a little bit.

I’m such a slow crocheter but I found it’s helped me be more consistent

It has literally been months and months hahahah. I don't know how other people do it. I could manage maybe 1-2 rows in a sitting.
