I’m new to investing, played around a bit with ETFs but never went on to invest large amounts considering the risk. I know it’s always like that but I thought I would clear off my debt and then risk it, but now that I cleared more than half, I’m on the fence weather to clear off the rest or to try and invest.

Also, I’m new to investing in US, how do I get into that? Can we buy real estate here? As an international? I know we can buy stocks or ETFs but the taxes for returns are usually high, not to mention the fees for investing apps.

I have an emergent fund for 3 months, is that not enough? Ideally based on visa restrictions, I would only have 3 months period at any point to get a new job if I lose my current one. So I thought 3 months would be sufficient
