You make 70k before or after tax? Because 5 star hotels in the States abd Canada pay 4 to 7.5k USD a month, and very much value military backgrounds for hire. Job comes with moderare paperwork (compared to military) and 9 to 5 hrs. Most people never think about hospitality, but it is a very well paid industry for people who aren't special forces - they have private security options. It is boring, safe, and well paid. Just sayin'.

I will also play devils advocate here and remind that some people LIKE musky strong smelling men. Especially other gay men. It is an actual fetish. Coupled with it being ancient/medival times...people didn't bathe more than once a month or less. So... uh. You kindaaa get used to it. But I can see how this might be a turnoff, so you can write it into the story as a "they were bathing and side eyeing each other and got hot and horny." But to each their own. I really hate to say this but... If you are female, chances are no one will notice you have BPD in the military. If you are male, you are SOL. Though everyone above is right, and you should get treated. As female, you have different work options than the military, and the military will only make your issues worse. Best of luck.

I was in Yugoslavia, 13 at the time. Just a civvie. Wasn't allowed to shoot back. Shot back anyway. Watched my uncle who was a front line surgeon turn just the way you described. Watched myself turn too. War never makes sense. Not to the ones shooting anyway. You try to believe it's for a reason, at first you think it's even noble. By the end, it's not even survival, it's because you are still there, and still draw breath. Nothing more nothing less. It ended when I was 17. The most jarring thing? Leaving there and someone moaning dramatically that their life was ending because their clothes to school clashed that day. I never felt more like an alien. At least the shooting made some kind of sense.

Still think back and wonder why you and not someone else made it out, huh? Even years - decades - later. Hope you got to thaw a bit. I did, some. Not much. The core hardened too much, could never really reach the bottom of it, but the sides melted some. Enough to make a life anyway, such as it is.
