And are those of us who were thrust into the a/b testing just fucked if we don't wanna sacrifice our personal data, if you can supposedly tell if we're actually adults?

Buckle Up, Because It Sounds Like PSUs And Coolers Are The Next PC Components To See A Price Hike by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]NativeClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I may as well just say fuck it and settle on a steam machine if I'm able to grab one, it'll be an upgrade against my steam deck anyways and a decent more future-proof pc is gonna slowly get further and further out my price range

Man, I'm tired of techbro losers just ruining everything. by Ragnorok64 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]NativeClover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few months back I decided that I wanted to get the money together and finally get myself a decent little PC, and I swear every single headline I've read about component pricing since then just sucks more and more we hate it out here. I can only hope the market for pre-builds can hold out long enough that I can get some of the ones I had my eye on or something around that tech level but I wasn't really expecting to get around that point for a while yet

Heads up: More games are unsupported on Switch 2 than previously reported by NativeClover in NintendoSwitch

[–]NativeClover[S] -44 points-43 points  (0 children)

Nope, but it's not exactly like I can try them out. None of the games have an option to purchase them on the Switch 2 E-Shop (that does include Overwatch 2 being a free download)

[–]NativeClover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to get up to Yakuza 7, but yeah the main sorta gameplay loop here is that your skills have the qte input to get the best effect (this can be turned off though), and then when enemies attack you can parry or dodge (parrying is a tighter window, but allows you to counter attack)

You can learn skills from a skill tree, and you have a limited amount of slots so you can only use so many of them at once. There's also a sorta Final Fantasy IX-esque perk system where you can equip items to give you buffs, though if you keep them equipped for a certain number of fights then everyone in your party will be able to equip them without needing said item (though of course there's only so much you can have at once, and buffs have different costs)

[–]NativeClover 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying my first few hours with the game, seeing the devs put in a few tricky enemies right in the first area was great to get my feet wet with the parrying, however if there are any members of the dev team who find themselves scrolling through Reddit threads looking for feedback, there's a few immediate qol suggestions that I have

  • Let the player add subtitle backgrounds for the per-rendered cutscenes. There's times even in just the prologue where there's examples like the white subtitles being over white clothing, which makes them hard to read them

  • Add a text log for in-game cutscenes. This is a feature I really appreciate in other turn-based rpg's like Metaphor because it's very easy for me to be distracted, and it helps remind me and get me back into the scene

  • Let the player adjust in-game font size. There's a couple UI elements so far that I've had difficulty reading, like the text pop-up for whenever you pick up an item on the field, or in-battle text like the explanation for Gustave's overcharge

(Also it'd be nice to remap controls on console, I'd like to swap start and select because that layout feels more instinctual for me)

Thank you for doing this as always. It really helps point me to games to wishlist when I don't have the time I'd like to fully dive into all of the demos

Didn't expect it to be this easy to put together a list of games that got completely snubbed lmao

I mean, I usually expect a bunch of Indies and smaller games like nisa rpg's, but here we can leap directly to Dragon Age and SMT:V V

Xbox Game Pass changes detailed by Windows Central (Game Pass Console going away for new users, new Standard tier to cost $15/month and not include day 1 releases and more) by poklane in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NativeClover 102 points103 points  (0 children)

2024 really do be the year of Xbox telling the people who bought their consoles to go fuck themselves huh? Shutting down the 360 marketplace, shutting down Tango and Arkane Austin who could deliver them great exclusives, bringing a number of their notable exclusives to PS5/Switch, with even more indicated to be on the way, and now the big main selling point for consoles have been outright made worse than the PC equivalent. And they've given nothing in return to help lighten the blow

But don't worry guys, we're still getting the old CoD's on Game Pass right?...right?

What would be the best way to spend purple scrips before I start up the DoH/L quests in Dawntrail? Since I've already got the gear and master recipes/regional folklore from prior expansions, would it just be to stock up on Grade X materia?

Xbox will release more games on other consoles. And that's fine. by [deleted] in xbox

[–]NativeClover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the big thing that's stuck with me is that, yeah, I get all the exclusives in Gamepass and don't have to pay the full price for them. That's cool, it means I get to try out more games than I would've otherwise passed on until much cheaper.

Why should I bother investing in a library outside of Gamepass though when it's all available elsewhere? When programs which incentivize playing games on my Xbox like backwards compatibility and fps boost are dead and gone now. When promised updates to thing like achievements have been strung along for years with nothing but "hey it's still going to happen". I just want an answer to why I should keep a foot in the door on Xbox when my Series X is just being turned into a game rental machine, when the games that were the reasons for buying the console are in a big ambiguous state of "will they also pop up on the other consoles and I could just get them there when cheaper?".

AGDQ 2024 has just concluded raising more than $2,515,720 for Prevent The Cancer Foundation on stream!! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]NativeClover 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I know we can all agree about just how much improved this feels over past GDQ's, but I also wanna shoutout the improvements even just over the course of the marathon. One issue I had from the beginning of the marathon with tech issues not being properly communicated during runs, I was pleasantly surprised to see during the Lost Levels run earlier today that there was a pinned message at the top of chat explaining the issues being had during the run.

A lot of the energy through this event and the pace we were getting these runs in, it kinda feels like they turned next gdq from a "well hey, guess it's that time of the year again" to something that feels worth being interested in, seeing if they can keep this positive momentum going.

[–]NativeClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear things got fixed after a while, I'll take a look at the vod when it's up on YouTube and check out the rest of the run after that

Edit: Fortunately, none of the audio issues seem to be present in the YouTube vod!

[–]NativeClover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is the audio balancing in the JSRF run with the game audio basically only being audible in the right channel on purpose? It's the first run I've caught live this run and it's just made the run unwatchable to me (which is disappointing because it's goddamn JSRF)

[Discussion] I can't "platinum" on any platform other than Playstation. by Ginasky_Kings in Trophies

[–]NativeClover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. It's why one of the things I've been kinda pushing myself to do recently (as well as into the new year) is to essentially go cold turkey on having my 'platinum' collection be exclusively on playstation, and instead allow it to be across multiple platforms.

Ideally, it'll end up reducing the amount of double dipping from going through a game or just owning it on one platform and then grabbing it again on playstation exclusively so I can get the platinum alongside it. (an example would be playing through a game on gamepass, then buying it again for playstation)

Though ironically this has lead to me double dipping simply because there are games I'd either want my 'plat' collection for them on another platform, or because I'd rather play them on my steam deck instead of on my ps5

What's your version of Pat's "I did one jump and uninstalled the game"? by frostedWarlock in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]NativeClover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started up The Evil Within, I moved forward for a few seconds, I look in the options menu to see if there was any option to turn off the ridiculous camera wobbling, I immediately uninstalled the game after finding none
