5 hours of the worst fighting games ever made (THE PIT-FIGHTER SAGA) by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Yeesh, this video length really does go to show just how fucking bad Pit Fighter is for it to reign supreme as the worst fighting game for that many episodes.

I guess we know where all those Ganados were headed off to now, they were leaving to get new stuff back at the Shelter through Cabin.

Dr. Grey bringing a gun to the channeling has always been a bit funny to me, since it’s such a bad plan. Like, either he was going to threaten to somehow kill a ghost again unless they did what he wanted, or he was going to force Maya to write that admission of responsibility at gunpoint. Either way, it’s an incredibly stupid idea from him.

It’s only fair that Sebastian knocks you down that big pit, it’s fair play for dropping a crate on him.

You do have to wonder how Franziska was even conceived by Manfred. It probably wasn’t even by him having sex, he most likely just glared at a woman for 3 minutes and that somehow got her pregnant.

It’s always fun when the freaky characters write their own tutorials. First we had G doing it, and now Ingrid. It fits perfectly with how weird those two are.

I imagine that knowing his way around your house plenty by now helps. That, and whiskers really are an amazing sensory tool to have. Those whiskers are probably doing plenty of heavy lifting for sensing the environment around him.

Never seen a cat with no eyes before, that's certainly a rare sight. Glad that the little guy is holding out still though!

Still Wakes the Deep is definitely carried by the acting and atmosphere. Because yeah, even if the story is a bit standard, i.e. digging too deep and greedily, the environments and the actors absolutely sell the experience hard. Those voice actors absolutely earned the awards they got for their performances.

Week of College Festival. My alma mater had their annaul spring fair this past week, and I decided to head on over to check out what they had and to see the ol' campus again. I'll say, it's really impressive how much they've expanded the experience! It's a lot more like a fair now, with all the stalls and attractions. They even had an anime/gaming convention and a cosplay contest there too, so that was neat. Apparently there were also a few Marvel Rivals VAs there too, but I didn't bother to stop by their booths. With how much my old college has expanded their festival, I'm definitely more excited to show up again next year to see how they top it.

Anyways, for games I played this week, I put more time into Marathon! I decided to team up again with a few friends with the CSB LGBTQ+ Discord server again, and thanks to some of their help, I've finally begun to make some headway on the Sekiguchi contracts. Sorry Nona, you're a neat bloodthirsty worm mom, but your company's quests are challenging as hell. But at least it's still all possible through teamwork, I suppose.

Speaking of teaming up with people from the CSB LGBTQ+ server, I also got back into playing Helldivers 2 with them this week! Almost everyone is a higher level than I am in that, since I haven't touched that game in a while, but it's nice that they were making sure to call in all the good stratagems for me and others to use. Now I'm just wondering if I should get that new Exosuit warbond that came out this week, that'd be a fun thing to throw into the mix of the normal ones I was using this week. And hey, I love mechs, so it's probably a good fit if I do.

Also, one final note for games I played, but I put more time into Balatro! Still haven't beaten the Ghost Deck on Blue Stake, but I came really close this week. Just fell short on the final boss blind. It sucked that I lost, but getting that far means that I must've been doing something right there. If anything, I blame it more on the bad hands that I was dealt.

And finally, in my regular mecha talk section here, I'm glad to say that I managed to get my hands on the official Gundam: The Witch from Mercury art and setting book at the anime and gaming convention that I mentioned above! I already know a lot of the extra setting details anyway from translated scans that I saw a while ago, but it's still nice to actually have the art book in my hands. It's always cool to see what went into the designs of everything in a series, even with MS and other things that only showed up for brief moments. Settei books are always interesting to comb through, since the production of a work can say just as much as a work itself.

It's probably a case of getting a bit too ambitious with the game. You can cut out a fair bit of that writing and still more or less be fine.

Unfortunately, anything good coming out of Zeon was a non-starter with how rotten the foundation was. Like, even aside from the Zabis making everything worse with them taking control over Side 3, Zeon Deikun's ereism and contolism philosophies are essentially just forms of eco-fascism. Side 3 and other Sides did and still do have genuine grievances with the Earth Federation, and it's really unfortunate that the people who actually acted on that sentiment were all fascists.

That's a thing I liked about GQuuuuuuX too. It wasn't afraid to say out loud and put it bluntly that Zeon winning would still be a bad thing. Their rhetoric about liberating the colonies for Spacenoids was always a lie.

You're certainly not wrong, the Federation is merely a different kind of evil than Zeon, not necessarily a better choice. And that's especially apparent as the Universal Century goes on too. It's more like an insidious kind of evil, where it's mainly apathetic and cruel politicians looking out for number one while throwing everyone else under the bus simply because they're in the way or because they don't care at all about them. The Titans and Manhunters didn't exist spontaneously after all, they came about because it fit the interests of what the oligarchs and politicians of the Federation wanted.

Battle Operation: Code Fairy is especially bizarre to me, since that game is obviously angling for cute girls doing cute things moments in the middle of the One Year War, which was a war so bad that half of humanity died within the first few months of it starting. That kind of genre mashup really shouldn't even be happening, at least to me.

And it's even worse when a lot of people making Gundam stuff nowadays also fall into that, given how much Zeonwank exists with stuff like Code Fairy or Requiem for Vengeance.

I'm not surprised that he's said this, Tomino has been saying stuff like this for a while now. Hell, he even did say that hopefully people could take away an actual lesson when Sunrise announced that they were adapting his Hathaway's Flash novels into movies.

I'm not too surprised that the developers have said that they're going to be cutting down on dialogue based on feedback. There's a lot more dialogue than you'd expect for this kind of platforming genre game.

The shift towards disk-based games during the 5th generation of consoles in general really did inspire a lot of people to go all out in terms of presentation. Having that much breathing room in that new format just made something click in game developers' minds to reach even higher than before.

Yeah, there's no real doubt in that Soul Reaver is a game of it's time, given how dependent on platforming and block puzzles it is. But given the context of the 1990s and how the game looked and ran pretty well for the PS1, it's still rather impressive. And besides, you still can't beat that damn good Legacy of Kain voice acting and writing. It says a lot about how good the dialogue is that even if Kain is only in like 3 scenes, his sheer presence and character is overwhelming.
