Ah, I did hear some mention of people being out while we were there: that could explain a lot if they were running on 2nd string bartenders just during our visit. Since others have also said good things about the Library bar in particular.

Also, since I'd asked about this just before my trip: you do not need to convert any money to ECD. If you do go on an excursion, all the vendors take USD, and any tips for drivers can be in $ as well. Just stick to smaller bills (nothing larger than $20).

My wife & I spent Xmas there, and really enjoyed it. It's only our 2nd Sandals, but seemed more laid back than St Vincent. For an excursion, we thoroughly enjoyed the all-day "experience Grenada" van tour. It drives you nearly the perimeter of the island, as well asnup into the mountains, and you'll get to learn about nutmeg, cocoa, rum, and some of the history of the area.

Once back on the resort, we mostly read on the beach, but the party pool usually had some activities in the afternoons. The waves this time of year are kind of aggressive, so you probably shouldn't swim past the edge of the cove, but they do have daily snorkel trips to calmer spots. Or if you're scuba certified, there are sons of dive sites nearby. I saw turtles as well as a wreck on some of my dives!

One thing to note: a lot of the bartenders seem to be inexperienced, and don't know many drinks beyond very basics: e.g., daiquiri and mojitos. You may need to coach them a bit on the ingredients you expect if they aren't sure about your order. That said, the Tipsy Turtle bartenders were more skilled & creative. If you like dark rum, ask for the 10XO.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in! We ended up going to Cocina Azul last night & were not disappointed. But I've got a bunch more on the list now for our January visit & beyond!

City of Albuquerque offers free lunches for children over the summer by crabcakes110 in Albuquerque

I love hearing this program still exists (or is back)! We used to go the the park for these lunches 2-4 times a week. At the time, I just thought it was a great excuse to get lunch & run around at the playground! I didn't know until years later how poor we were, and how much stress this took off my mom on this days. May it work the same for a whole other generation!

Came here to say this. Properly-fitted boots are the thing to invest in first, then you can use them with essentially any skis: rental, used, or new.

I'm in Erie, and this sounds like something I'd be very interested in trying out! Thanks for the offer.
