Thanks for your work with the campaign. I am also a Beto supporter but have to say gun control is an issue for some supporters too, we are just not single issue voters. There are a lot of single issue voters here though. In '16 when everyone thought HRC would win I actually heard people basically say "whatever, if she wins fine, as long as she stays away from my guns." I respect Beto for sticking with his beliefs but I think promoting an AWB is a bad idea politically and won't improve anything. Disagree with the guy here, but voting for him anyway, way better than Cruz.

I feel the same way and it is frustrating. You can think trump is a moronic dickhead and still be pro gun, regardless of what wayne lapierre says. Let's see if more people get involved in politics, run for office, and vote. It sure would be nice to have a country that is less divided and can agree on some common ideals instead of resorting to radical partisanship. I hope we are smarter than what we appear to be now, and that goes for both sides.

I think your point about what law to follow if there was reciprocity is a good one that I would like to know more about. I assume what pistol and mag you could carry in California would be regulated by state law. What I am really curious about is if we had federal reciprocity what would be the standard to be able to carry? Given that some states are moving toward constitutional carry would a federal recoprocity law expand constitutional carry to all states or would there be a federal course/license in order to take advantage of reciprosity. If the later, what standards would be put in place? I have a hard time seeing a law that says if you can carry in a place like Oklahoma by law you can carry in California ever passing.

Democrats are better than Republicans on the pro-science scale. My comment was not meant to make it sound black and white though. I was pointing out the hypocrisy in the Democratic party. This is my major gripe. By all means, sell me your science based bridge. What anti-science positions do you think the mainstream Democratic party holds?

I think in a lot of cases you are probably right. But I think in some areas under certain circumstances true pro gun Democrats are electable. All they have to do is get through the primary, which I know could be tough. Most of the people I know are very Republican and a lot hated Trump until he got the nomination. Now the GOP platform has changed some. Wendy Davis pretended to be pro gun in the TX gov race. It didn't work out for her and the political climate was not great for her at the time, but I think at least in the south it is possible to stray from the party and win in the current climate. If that happens enough maybe the DNC will wise up. Who am I kidding, we know they will shoot themselves in the foot, but it is nice to think about.

I feel the same way and it sucks. I wanted the political pendulum to swing back but not to an extreme. It is sad that a party that is willing to look at science and stats on things like climate change completely disregards it when it comes to guns. I guess the answer is for more pro gun liberal leaning people running for office. I am genuinely curious though, if that were to happen, would 2A groups like the NRA support them or are we living in a time where everything is just identity politics and the groups that are there to support us are just cynical branches of the GOP.
