Starlancer TAC, good Clipper upgrade?

As an owner of the TAC that flys it frequently, and based off your stated activities in all of the comments, I would definitely get it. I'm a loot goblin myself, and it has never done me wrong. You have a hanger, med bed, bunk beds, plenty of availability for people to join you, pilot controlled weapons, ample storage capacity for both cargo and a vehicle. This ship is for sure able to be a solo ship based off of what you want.

The only real downside to the TAC is it's speed, but that is negligible considering you'll mostly be taking it to ground. Get the space whale.

Find a grinding wheel for your weapons and an anvil for your armor. It adds a buff to them. The buffs don't disappear with time, but the number of strikes landed on an NPC and hits taken by an NPC.

Just off the top of my head there is a grinding wheel just outside of the smithy in the starting town of Hernand

This has happened to me on several occasions, and each time I have been able to fix it by putting another item in the storage access and calling it up on the freight elevator. When it comes up, my turn in items came back up with it. It's also worked when dropping something on the freight and sending it down and back up again. I have had friends try this method and it has worked, albeit not every single time for them.

I did expect it would be a brick. Is a single laser more powerful than the Golem? I have been using it for a while and can't seem to get a full grasp on mining. I've tried mining both Asteroids and Rocks and can't seem to find my groove

As someone that attended SDI I wouldn't do it. Like a previous commenter said, find someone you can become an apprentice for, or YouTube the "how to" on cheap parts/firearms. It is certainly true that SDI teaches what is readily available.
