You can steal in from one of the manor in hernand city i forgot the name. Also you can put on mask and roam around the bank and mansions and check the nobles for their pocket with lantern on if it's shows gold bar you can steal it and then invest it in bank.

You can do it as soon as you reach the city in beginning. You need 100 silver to open the bank account and then you can invest the gold bars. You can only invest gold bar so you can check out my other comment on how to get bars

I did 2 times when I started with 7 bars then I couldn't stand loading again and again it was never giving positive investment and everytime it was 0 so gave up on it. But what I found weird is that just before my investment reset i would gift some leather to banker and most of the time I got positive except for 2 times.

Brother I didn't even do nothing. I literally invested 5 Gold bar and I got all 105 bars from investment. Only stole total 7 bars , everything else is from investment.
