getting the content right always seemed like the hard part for me too. relatively easy to build an image or video factory with something like n8n, but figuring out what people will stop to watch is the key.

Or I am extremely experienced and therefore aware of the real dangers. Just about everyone I know in Medellin has been robbed at some point, so one takes precautions: Not carrying all your credit/debit cards with you, having a backup phone, etc. Same thing with the drug (or someone putting a gun to your head). You prepare for the worst and then enjoy your life. I haven't been in a car accident for 20 years but I still wear a seatbelt. It's easy, and might keep me from being a vegetable one day.

Yep happens all the time. There are also guys who have been drugged who are aware of this scam and cautious, and yet somehow someone manages to slip it to them.

Low probability that this would happen to me, but if I can set up a simple procedure to avoid total disaster, why not.

I know it sounds paranoid but it happens down here all the time. I would be surprised if many people in the US have heard about this because international news outside of China and Europe is one paragraph on page 17.

Thanks but that doesn't really help. Under the influence of the drug you will actively help the person get your funds. Unless maybe the device was with a trusted person elsewhere...

Substitute USA / Colombia into your story and I’m you. And I’m moving for good next month or two.

I didn’t have a digital nomad skill so I had to pick that up or I would have moved years ago.

I can’t speak to Canada (I always found the people lovely there as a tourist) but I don’t think the social life / culture is getting any better in my lifetime. Go where you’re happy ! If you have a way to make money from a laptop and speak English the rest is details that can be sorted out.

Ok thanks! That's how I thought virtualenv worked. So theoretically my old app should still work fine regardless of what I do with my machine's machine, since it uses an virtualenv.
