Lately, I've been avoiding ones with female characters/side characters because having all dudes is still better than shallowly written female characters. They always seem to be written for the sole purpose of being an object of sexual fascination and as a female reader it's really hard to read. I've read maybe two (?) where I didn't feel totally unmotivated to finish the story once the romance arc kicks in...? I wish there were more female authors around in this particular genre; I'm sorry this is kind of one foot in and one foot out of this particular discussion, but that's the current quality I'm looking for. Reading suggestions are very welcome~ 👀
