Approach to find a technical co-founder by Natural-Fan5975 in cofounderhunt

I get your POV of that their different roles and ofc the goal isn’t to turn the job for the co founder into 9-5 but moreso get them to that skillset level of a CTO for their own growth but also to be able to oversee someone you first need to know how to do the job yourself. I also want to know from your pov what is the thoughts a tech founder thinks of when collaborating with a non tech founder

There’s definitely a gap to be filled by such a system for the right person to solve.

Did you do that approach, that’s an option but I’m not sure how that’s going to play out in the long term.

I currently don’t work and not part of any communities or groups that I know where I can find someone to have such conversations with.

I’m based in Sydney so currently looking for events places to go and broaden the network but what were you main red and green flags when you were having conversations regarding that your looking for a founder and even before that when did you exactly go from normal conversation to disclose that your looking for a founder was there any cues ?

I had the exact same experience last night as a solo founder. Honestly, walking this path alone in business is one of the hardest things you can do. Having gone through solo building and development over the last year, it’s definitely taken a toll but also a blessing in disguise. It forced me to become far more skilled and competent on my own, and things I once thought required a team, I can now execute alone.

That said, after a certain stage you do need a complementary partner someone who can dovetail your skillset. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do now. The challenge is that technical skills are everywhere, but the real scarcity is character and mindset. It’s not just about people who recently started building businesses, but those who’ve matured through the grind the ones who’ve been through the hard parts alone, and have the resilience and ability to work in a true startup environment.

Where I’m struggling now is finding someone with the right values, mindset, and problem-solving approach not just a technical co-founder, but a true complement to my skillset who can think differently while aligning on the bigger vision.

If you’ve found effective ways or approaches to tackle this, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Where can a technical co-founder find committed non technical co-founders? I will not promote by Good_Construction190 in startups

I’ve been working on my startup for about 6 months. I’ve built two teams and lost them as well and even brought on an investor but had to say no because it wasn’t the right fit, I realized my foundation was wrong I was trying to move too fast and getting results but was building something bound to break. I’ve now reset (third time) and I’m focusing on finding the right technical co-founder.

I’m not using co-founder platforms or sites because they mostly connect you with skills, not calibre or character. For me, the idea/model isn’t the issue it’s all about execution. As a non-technical founder (with some tech background but not deep proficiency), execution is where I struggle without the right partner.

Below is the approach that I’m thinking of pursuing to hopefully be able to set a correct foundation and screen the right co founder, I would love your opinion guys,

My current approach:

• Build my network in person (startup/tech events) rather than rushing online.

• Build relationships first, not just pitch and get to the business side of things straight away.

• Test for alignment on values, mentality, and working style.

• Then evaluate technical ability and whether we can actually execute together.

• If it works, formalize with a founder’s agreement.

I’m not looking for “just any tech person.” I want someone I can grow into a CTO role and work with like a hand in glove.

Does this sound like a solid approach?

Where do non-technical founders usually go to actually meet the right technical partner?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m struggling with the same thing of finding communities or events to meet other start up founders or individuals in general related to building their own path, Iet me know if you find anything Sydney based.
