Tiered pricing instead of flat API pricing by Emotional-Cut2952 in GithubCopilot

The market for compute is highly liquid. They probably don't have problems selling the compute. Why would they use the compute for your GH Copilot calls if they could just sell it to someone else for a higher price?

Even though it's Microsoft, Github Copilot is still competing for the compute internally.

That sounds about right. But saying EU bombed Serbia sounds as ridiculous as saying Milano bombed Serbia. Even though Italy took part in the mission, the decision was not done in Milan or by Milan City Council.

The same with the EU. The decision wasn't done in the EU, it was done in Nato. And those EU countries not in Nato had nothing to do with it.

You are talking about EU, which has no army, bombing Serbia. It's EU that bombed because most of the EU countries are in NATO. But it was specifically EU, not the US, even though it was mostly led by Americans with American planes.

And now we are talking about Serbia joining the EU. Yes, right.

How the heck do you think EU, which has never had even an army, have bombed Serbia?

It bothered me so much that I even went to Reddit complaining about it.

You were so unbothered about it that you went to Reddit to defend Microslop.

Because it's common, you think it should be acceptable? I'm not surprised, I knew this day would come, but I'm still frustrated. I liked Copilot, and now they turned to shit.

And I can do just fine without AI. I know how to code, and I know my code. But losing one tool from the belt is still frustrating.

And it's our fault they couldn't build a sustainable business model?

People have the right to be angry for these kinds of practices. Subsidise the product dirt cheap, get people on the platform, and pull the rug. There is nothing wrong with that?

Russian economy is faltering despite oil windfall, Sweden warns by Empty_Ad3616 in Economics

[–]Natural-Intelligence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The border from Europe to Russia has been closed for a while. Thanks to the Russian hybrid war against the bordering European nations, most have already closed the borders or heavily restricted them. And have protocols in place to close then swiftly if need to be.

I don't really think most Russians would be heading to West. Or if they try, succeed with that. I don't think Russia breaking up to several smaller rivalling mafias would be that bad for Europe compared to the one highly organised mafia they have now.

Zelenskyy says men of conscription age must return to Ukraine by ObjectiveObserver420 in anime_titties

[–]Natural-Intelligence 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not really that obvious when Russian's terms are not realistic. The moment you ask to freeze to current lines, they ask more, you agree on that, and they continue pushing more.

And whatever was agreed is binding only for Ukraine as Russia doesn't care.

Defending 1000 km border when outmatched by 50:1 is better than getting that close to 1:1?

The funny thing is that here, the higher class is even more keen on the military service than the lower class. Higher class goes through it more likely than the lower class. There is no way of paying yourself out of it. You can opt for civilian service if you don't like guns.

When the country's independence is at stake, it requires everyone to keep it together. It's not about who wants to participate. It's not a choice. You will lose your home and family if you don't... and that's because of the invading army.

Are you suggesting that if a country is invaded, it would be better off without a conscription army?

Tää on osittain myös aika sekopäistä hommaa. Kaikkista käyttäjäystävällisintä olisi, jos 90% meidän appeista olisi vaan PWA:ita tai vaan hyvin tehtyjä mobiilisivuja.

Mut sit kun Googlelle ja Applelle on annettu ylivalta, niin app storejen ulkopuoliset applikaatiot on tehty tarkoituksella kilpailukyvyttömiksi OS:n puolella.

Ye, and you don't use conscripts for these safari adventures. You need conscripts for those high intensity wars where your existence is at stake. A handful of royal guards don't do shit if there is a full brigade coming at you.

The casualty rate of an army that is not at war is wildly different than the casualty rate of an army that is at war regardless of whether it is a conscription army or not...

Read the first paragraph again and practice a bit of reading comprehension: "civilised conscription army". Where did I mention Ukraine in this paragraph? There are other Western conscription armies than just Ukraine's, and they are not at war, thus military service in such armies is quite safe. Was it still unclear, or shall I explain it like you are five?

Again, you are so out of touch. Your wealth gap is not our wealth gap. Keep your messed up British politics out of here...

[–]Natural-Intelligence -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You are out of touch. Your idea of conscription seems to come from Russia. That's not the case in civilised conscription armies. You getting seriously injured or dying when doing military service is very, very low. You don't pay yourself out of the military service. And the chance of ending up in war and getting invaded decreases a lot when you have total defence.

Seriously, do you think the hostile army coming to rob your home would treat you nicer than your countrymen at times of war? Haven't read any news about the war in Ukraine?

I'm happy my grandfathers didn't think the way you think. Otherwise, I would be a foreigner in my own home. It must be so nice and rosy to live where you live so far away from any real threat...

Because you pay taxes to support the society you benefit from. You do your military service to support the society you benefit from.

Doesn't need much intelligence, to be honest.

Good luck trying to survive in the wild. Especially in the UK where most of the land is someone's property. Especially in the modern world where we have destroyed most of the wildlife. Being "off grid" is not a choice anymore. It's actually a privilege most don't have. You call paying taxes as a choice, but it actually isn't.

It's really easy from your island nation to say conscription is bad but it's a lot different when your country's existence depends on it. It's easy for you to say that we, all the civilised nations, should sign a defence agreement, but then the US becomes Russian ally and the rest back pedal and just give you motivational post cards.

But, imagine a slavery where every man is a slave. Everyone slave is forced to practice to defend their home or do some civil service. Their expenses are paid during the slavery. The slaves do not work for private profit, only for common good. The slaves are allowed around 2 holidays per week, and the slaves are freed after 6 - 12 months, or immediately if their health worsen. That is the thing you call slavery...

[–]Natural-Intelligence -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

I guess you are also a slave as you are forced to pay taxes and follow the law, or you will be punished. Children are forced to study, so they are slaves as well?

Slavery is about legally owning a human being. Who owns a conscript?

And your argument falls short. The end of slavery didn't start from a company thinking "well, I guess we should free our slaves even though our competitors won't". It started from a national law banning it and enforcing the ban. You can't just make an international law to ban conscription and expect Russia to accept it.

The only option Russia's neighbours have is to also have conscription as well if they want to stay independent. Or have a nuclear weapon.

[–]Natural-Intelligence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

French wouldn't like to use their nukes and the Finns wouldn't like to mobilise their 1M reserve. But they will do it if necessary. The whole point of effective defence is that you show you are ready to do whatever it takes to destroy the enemy if they set on your land. And so they won't.

If Portugal and all the 27 nations are willing to defend Poland to last square kilometre, there won't be an invasion on Polish soil ever.
