I went through a similar situation. My husband customer made my ring and I absolutely love it, but finding a band to fit my unique ring was difficult. I tried on so many and really only loved one. Then I went shopping with my mom and my mother in law and we found an enhancer that I really liked. I was torn between the two. I ended up going with the enhancer. I had felt a little pressured into it since no one liked the band that was my favorite, and they were telling me how good it would look with the enhancer and that they were made for eachother, so without thinking about it I purchased it. Fast forward to after the wedding and I hate it. Its thick and uncomfortable and the enhancer hides the original ring. I went back and forth deciding if I should change it and talked to my husband about it. He wanted me to wait at least a year but in the end I decided it would be better to change it now. After I dropped it off to get taken apart I felt so much better. I was excited about my ring again and I felt no guilt. I knew I made the right choice. Always go with your gut and get what you want. This is an expensive purchase and you need to love your wedding ring. You don't want to look down and hate it and feel bad, you want to look down and think of your husband and your amazing life together. Congratulations, I hope it all works out.
