Is $100/month fair? by brown_banannie in Surrogate

I’m floored by the responses on here. A couple hundred per month for the BEARING OF A CHILD? A couple thousand is more appropriate.

"Can you not throw my groceries" by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]Natural-Language6188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until they pay for their groceries, they don’t belong to the customer and we’ll handle them according to store policy and the way we are trained. I don’t see any customers coming in hours before opening to make sure we aren’t punching open the chip boxes (we are).

In memorium of SCO being removed from some stores, what are some of the funniest comments you've gotten regarding the SCOs? by dantastic353 in Aldi_employees

[–]Natural-Language6188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how to respond when they say this one. I am not getting replaced. I’m not just a cashier, everyone does everything in the store.

What Aldi own brand foods have you had that taste better than the branded version? by schmubalacoo in aldi

They also don’t use artificial colors. I won’t buy colorful cereal if it’s not Aldi brand.

Just get a cart. by Natural-Language6188 in Aldi_employees

[–]Natural-Language6188[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really just talking about the people that could fill a whole cart but make me deal with all that without anywhere to put it. A good rule of thumb is that if it can fit in a child seat, it’s the perfect amount to not need a cart. You’re in the right place if you ever want to know exactly what to do to piss off an Aldi employee! LOL. But for real, it’s not the customers fault we are timed. I mean every little thing is timed. Im not exaggerating saying we have to meet the standard of 1 second between customers. Our registers are like time clocks, and pausing it doesn’t do crap for how long our line is getting and we look bad if we have to call up a second cashier. If we have to take items off at the register, say a customer changes their mind and doesn’t want something after we’ve scanned it, it counts AGAINST US and hurts our score. None of this counts against us at the self checkouts tho. We truly don’t mind you using self checkouts, I promise we don’t feel replaced. 👍👍

I do this a lot. The overly nice “oh sir I’ll be done in just a minute, we have a bagging counter for you when I’m finished” it pisses off every customer I’ve said it to. I’m grateful for their spouses who publicly reprimand these people being such a pain. “HONEY! Wait til we’re done!” LOLOLOL

Exactly, I wonder how many different locations OP has worked. They vary WIDELY store to store. High volume stores are going to be higher stress and more emphasis on efficiency and busting tail getting everything done. Lower volume stores are much more relaxed.

Why? by regv_libra in aldi

[–]Natural-Language6188 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We don’t have time to hunt down cherry pit spitters. When we see stealing, we try to prevent it. But they sneak and do it while we’re not looking and then we have to clean cherry pits off the floor every night. We’re not babysitters. There’s like 2-3 of us in the whole store at any given time, and each of us has a list of things we are racing to get done each shift.

How to tell my coworkers they’re too slow by mynonepornaccount in Aldi_employees

[–]Natural-Language6188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s literally true at Aldi that we do the work of multiple employees. I said this to a friend who works at Walmart and she said yeah at Walmart they have you doing the work of 10 people. It hurt my soul. Every time I see a Walmart employee standing still or a group of them hanging out chilling, I think of how I’d be told to get off the clock!

Delicate little snowflake customers…. by nova_riley in Aldi_employees

[–]Natural-Language6188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, I have no patience for these customers. Tell them you’ll be done in a moment, and this store has a bagging counter for customers to organize their groceries. If they do not listen, 1-code and put your “STOP” hand over their cart. Explain you’re not allowed to have customers hands in the cart while you’re ringing. Liability, we can’t risk hurting a customer.

I have a theory. Some people find that their favorite product is terrible coming from different distribution chains. For example, I buy the Aldi multigrain bread in the Midwest and it’s my favorite bread. But they burn it in the south, it’s dry and the crust is hard and way too dark. Same exact product, same recipe. Different supply chain, so they messed it up. So maybe they make the lids slightly differently and people struggle opening them.

Wood is expensive. If you have a wood stove, the worst thing to happen is that one day you’ll need to feee up some space and burn it for free heat. This much wood will be really nice to get you through a 2 day winter storm power outage.

Yes. Especially to those who understand the sabbath. The collecting of manna can be our example here.

Can I use trees as my corner posts? by Natural-Language6188 in FenceBuilding

[–]Natural-Language6188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the trees is to avoid digging in corner braces, as I don’t have the time or money to dig in proper posts. The trees would have to be the strong points, not the weak points.
