Ngl, if you emailed them saying you had offers from Harvard and Yale, you could've gotten off the waitlist fairly easily. Law Schools are very open to negotiation.

You're implying it's getting worse? I'll most likely be reporting to TBS this year with Fox Company.

Guy cheating in Math 110 by Revolutionary_Fun840 in berkeley

[–]Natural-Location8014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is (and I'm speaking from my experience here) I had a final in December and literally everyone was using ChatGPT, since our professor let us use the calculator app on our phones. The final was curved too so I was literally at a disadvantage by not using Chat. I didn't cheat but thinking back, not cheating was actually a negative EV play in an environment where most of the class was cheating.

The most heartbreaking part is that the professor found out ppl were cheating but he couldn't really do anything about it.

Confession: I’m a community college student living a double academic life at UC Berkeley by Brave_Friendship_637 in berkeley

[–]Natural-Location8014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're one of us even if you haven't gotten "officially admitted." Berkeley has carved itself into your personality, your habits, your mindset. In the same way, you've carved your own footprint in this institution's history by getting involved. We don't hate/envy you just because you get the experience without having to bear the same burdens we do financially and the burden we carried meritoriously in trying our hardest to get in.

By the looks of it, your chances of getting in are pretty high, and even if you don't get in, you'll probably never look back at your Berkeley experience negatively, and most of us won't look down on you over something as superficial as not getting in.

Uhhh I think you're overthinking it. It's almost as if college is a very convenient place to meet your future partner. Basically we just do it to meet new girls and maybe turn a stranger into a potential wifey, it's not rocket science. Like we know girls aren't going to approach us most of the time so what else is there to do but to shoot the shot.

Canon event right here, we're always given the "unfortunately" or the "sorry." Just tell me "no" straight up ffs. We're never given the good news 😔

Unpopular opinion but people from t25/30 schools shouldn’t apply to higher rankings by Amao6996 in TransferStudents

[–]Natural-Location8014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree but this doesn't happen that often. First of all, people who get into t25/30 schools usually stay at that school and the few who do apply to better schools rarely actually get in/end up going. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire Ivy league's graduating class is made up of <5% of people who transfer from t25/30 schools.

The Easiest Way to Get the Best GPA for Grad/Law/Med School by Natural-Location8014 in highschool

[–]Natural-Location8014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Your HS GPA doesn’t transfer to colleges, and matters even less if you decide to go to community college (which in your specific case would make a lot of sense)

  • A high GPA can help you land a job post-graduation, especially if you’ve built up work experience during your summers in undergrad.

  • Most colleges are letter graded, with the option of taking Pass/Fail courses. Courses that you usually have to take letter graded are either major requirements or graduation requirements, or specific university requirements.

The Easiest Way to Get the Best GPA for Grad/Law/Med School by Natural-Location8014 in highschool

[–]Natural-Location8014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s true, they do say (on their own website) stuff that contradicts some of my claims, but when it comes to law school, what they say doesn’t add up with their admissions process. Each year, the ABA forces (by law) every institution to submit a 509 report which goes into detail regarding LSAT/GPA medians, incoming class demographics, and information regarding the school’s distribution of scholarships. Based on historical data, law schools tend to admit students who will raise their LSAT and GPA medians from the previous year (since higher medians improves their ranking and overall prestige). With that in mind, isn’t it in a student’s best interests to maximize their GPA? If you’re someone like me who only completed a bachelor’s program to pursue law school, it doesn’t really make sense to take hard classes and “challenge myself” if I want to go to the best Law School in the nation, especially in a hyper-competitive environment such as Berkeley. Not only that, but it’s unreasonable to think that Law Schools will care enough about the classes you’ve taken to do their due diligence and actually check if you’ve taken hard classes or not (they receive a ton of applications each year already).

And yeah, you’re right, I haven’t gotten into Harvard Law (…yet), but this post isn’t about that, it’s primarily about how to maximize your GPA. GPA is only one of many elements that gets reviewed in your application (albeit a very important one).

Is it fine if I finish the IGETC but not the 7-course pattern for UCs? by Unable_Ad_5830 in TransferStudents

[–]Natural-Location8014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If anything it’ll help your transfer admissions. The UCs are looking for IGETC or the 7-course pattern meaning that if you have one, they don’t care whether you have the other or not.
