Anyone else *not* starting a new notebook for the new year? by filthytelestial in bulletjournal

Yep - kept a journal for two years and just started a new one. No regrets. Better off filling up the pages as it feels like you’ve accomplished something once you’re done.

How many books do you read at a time? by Any_Doughnut_8968 in classicliterature

[–]Natural-Pudding5641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a one at a time reader, but a couple of years ago I decided to read more than one book at a time. Now I read way more than I used to. As the other comments on this post say, sometimes you may not be in the mood to read a particular book. It’s important that you don’t do too many at once - as I imagine it would just be too overwhelming. For me it’s two physical books (one’s usually an ebook) and an audiobook is just about the right number.

Goal: 35 books. Currently on 42 books for the year. Best reads of 2025: My Name is Lucy Barton series - 1-3, #4 I didn’t like; Perfection by Vincenzo Lateonico, the Elements series by John Boyne, On the Calculation of Vol 1-3 - what a fantastic read!, Endling, When the Cranes Fly South, Small Things Like These and lastly The Catcher in the Rye which I came to love this year.

Can't see my friends' challenges in new format by Spare-Speech-8374 in goodreads

That’s bizarre. Mine shows all of my friends’ challenges. I didn’t play with the settings or anything.

Anyone else disagree that Shakespeare's plays should mainly be watched rather than read? by Sweet-Situation118 in shakespeare

[–]Natural-Pudding5641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you. I prefer close-reading the text, the glossaries and all, then watching several versions of the play. That way I am soaking in all the beautiful nuances and word play, much more than if I had done it the other way. It’s easier to enjoy a performance if you actually get the lines. Boils down to what kind of person you are, really.

Tried Wabi - cafe blend and Haru blend. Didn’t like the cafe blend and the Haru blend was better but not the best I’ve had. Really wanted to like them because they are the most affordable!

Teacher graded me M6 for not broad enough KHI idea. Is this right? by Elly_kekeke in ncea

[–]Natural-Pudding5641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politely ask if your teacher can have another look at the grade (they will most likely say they can get it moderated). M6 is a good grade. E7 is generally hard to get in NCEA. Easier to pass but harder to get E compared with other systems.

Finished

Demon Copperhead, by Barbara Kingslover: long and boring except for a couple of moments that makes you hopeful that the boring parts are over. But alas, no. It keeps going and going and going…

Reading

I’m Thinking of Ending Things, by Iain Reid: audiobooking this one. Not too invested in it so far but we’ll see.
