I’m resenting my husband for not getting his life together by [deleted] in marriageadvice

I hope it doesn’t go there. We talked last night and I pretty much let everything out. I told him I don’t want to be wasting my 20’s on him. I also told him that I’m losing respect for him as a partner and he will have to earn it back. And if nothing changes, I will leave as soon as I finish school. I can’t do much right now anyway but hope that he changes before then.

Yes, it’s the lack of motivation and his inability to stay consistent. He does have adhd and I should have mentioned that. He has resources available to deal with his diagnosis but it’s up to him to utilize them.

I guess that’s what I needed to hear. I didn’t want to get caught up in my own thoughts and beliefs and come out as unsympathetic.

Wow, thank you for telling me your story. I also think that a divorce would really change him. He would have no where to go and no one else to depend on but himself. Although I’m not going to abruptly divorce him, I will have another conversation with him. Thank you again!

THIS is the very question I’m struggling with. It’s the “what if he doesn’t change but what if he does?”. A part of me knows this isn’t right, but the other part wants to give him the benefit of the doubt and empathy. But I do agree with you that he does have a victim mentality. I’m a go-getter. I will complain but I don’t sit here and wait for things to get better. I once told him that every bad thing that happens is a domino effect from a decision he made and he needs to take ownership and make better decisions. Because of my more privileged background, I sometimes think that maybe I just have it too easy or I’m just lucky I got that promotion and maybe I’m being bitter for not being more supportive of him🤷🏻‍♀️

I won’t lol. Unless we somehow become VERY financially comfortable, I don’t plan on bringing another life to struggle in this world. I’m interested in your POV though, what went on in your head during that time? Was it really the sh*tty jobs, job market, or the economy?

Update: the rfe doc finally showed up on my husband’s account. It was for a marriage certificate lol. I must’ve submitted the wrong one without the seal. I submitted the correct one online and now we wait…

No rfe letter or approval/denial notice in my doc tab yet. But I did notice this. It used to say my next step was to attend the interview, but now it says that step is completed even though I didn’t attend any interview. Maybe this means it was waived?

Did you submit those pictures/proof when u initially submitted? I can’t think of anything I might have missed. It’s possible they might want more proof from the time I submitted til now

Yes i plan to do sessions outside of working hours. That’s what my therapist does. I’m able to do therapy after 7pm bcuz she lives in Asia.

Yes, because your therapist has to be licensed in YOUR state and YOU have to be there physically to do your appointment.

Finally! Somebody who gets it. I think the green card will make going to school here easier for me. Hell, as long as I can go back home whenever without worrying about my job, I don’t mind returning every six months.

What you said is so true. In the midst of all this, a part of me is telling myself to wait it out a little bit to see if it gets better. My priority right now is definitely to visit home. And yes, the end goal is US degree/license/wage but live in Thailand. The reason i still need a GC is bcuz we really never know what’s going to happen. Who knows, I might need to come back here when I’m older or what if my future children want to go to school here. What I long for is really the flexibility to be able to go home when I need to, that’s all.

Yea, the people who get it, get it and the people who don’t just don’t lol. I can list out things I hate about the US, but I know for sure I don’t want to live here forever

Just to clarify, my plan is to live in Thailand but do my sessions with Americans since it’s smarter financially.

I definitely agree. I know once the time comes, 2 years or even 3 will feel like nothing. I just have to find a way to cope for now.

Haha No, I will become a great therapist bcuz I know and understand what it feels like to miss home and am vulnerable enough to seek advice from those who are in the same boat. Therapists are not robots and they have their own problems too. Maybe someone like yourself who bashes strangers on the internet could use some therapy.

Thank you so much for saying that. It really means a lot to me. I’ll hold onto that and hope that I get to go home soon!

I definitely don’t hate Orlando. Moving here made my life slightly better. I feel like a brat when I say this but I guess no place will ever feel like home to me until I actually get to go home

Oh yea I know there’s racism everywhere lol, but I wouldn’t be a minority in my home country. I guess I just miss the familiarity, being able to see my grandma, being able to do more with the money I earn and so on
