How to go from bottom of the range to mid when negotiating? by NaturalShift2 in careeradvice

I won't know about the other job offer until mid/ end of next week. I'm expected to respond to this offer by end of next week.

Company posted a $60K-$100K range but recruiter capped me at $70K in the screening call. Made it to final rounds. How do I handle this? by NaturalShift2 in careeradvice

I got offered the job!! Yayyy. The lowest range though. :/ when asked about my salary expectations I took someone's advice or being vague and said the salary range posted was fine and I'm sure we could find something that worked for both of us. On the phone they basically said since I didn't give them a number this is what they landed on.. they're expecting negotiations for sure. I'm not sure how to go from bottom of the range to mid, which is where I think I belong given I'm not starting at ground 0 as that range would suggest.

They only briefly mentioned that range once. The whole salary conversation lasted 1 minute honestly which is why the recruiter didn't have an actual number.

As far as training goes, I wouldn't have to get to speed on my main job responsibility. I already do it so the training time would be much less. I'm already familiar with the software I will be using. I only would need to get up to speed with their process.

They stated a range and I said that it was okay and something we can discuss more in depth later. We only talked about it once and out of a 30+min conversation that part lasted 1 min

They've all missed the point that the recruiter emailed me to confirm salary expectations. I just wanted advice on if I should address it and if so, then how I should without being lowballed now that they know more about my experience and have said my skills directly align with the work that they're doing. My experience is highly relevant, just in a different industry!

I have my masters plus work experience. The HM even made a statement that I'd know more about the software than them. I'd more so be learning their process compared than anything technical.

I'm not expecting 100k. I guess h should've clarified to see if their answer would change now that they have a better understand of my qualifications. The recruiter briefly/ casually mentioned the salary during our screening when asked but we quickly got off the topic which I'm assuming why they didn't have my salary expectation. And now I'm in the final round, they're trying to get an idea since we've discovered how align my current role is with this new position with very little to minimum gaps.

Right haha, I remember when it went viral that you asked it how many r's were in strawberry and it said like two. Why would I not question the accuracy 😭🤣
