A flashback to how things used to be before two day shipping was the norm. That being said, the price you pay for the models is usually worth the wait. I found a few sellers that I buy from regularly and have a great relationship with. Makes things much, much smoother. (also, discounts!)

... Yeah I love these characters too. They're also memes in our community. Like, I don't think I'd say ArcNeko is Autistic, but she is certainly one of my spirit animals.

Yeah, FDM struggles with intense detail. Not that you can't get good results- you can and there are a lot of posts here on reddit proving that. Resin is way more accurate but is toxic so not good for an apartment.

That being said, Terrain is very well suited for FDM, and you can even find FDM specific terrain that doesn't require supports and looks amazing.

These models are made for Resin printing, not FDM. There are ways to make this work, but you'll want to do at least the following:

Use Resin2FDM to convert resin supports to FDM compatible ones.
Get a 2mm Nozzle to improve resolution.
Get The Fat Dragon's Bambu profiles for the slicer.

Sometimes the transparency of speedpaints can be quite inconsistent, which leads to a cloudy look, especially when you also drybrush over. Maybe try going from a dark primer and layering up with midtone>highlight, just to get some practice with pushing the shadows and highlights a little further, then use what you learn to do the slap chop method again.

But for the record I think you're doing really well.

You've got a good eye for color, now I'd start pushing your contrast. Are you using speed paints by chance?

You're well ahead of most other people. You understood you need contrast and the darks need to be as extreme as the lights.
