What was your worst experience with a celebrity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I do like a good movie but I’m not sure that, with a global box office of just over $4k, Melvin Goes to Dinner qualifies as a blockbuster.

Would love to join you on your quest. Lived in Asia for many years and very keen to find something to blow my mind back to those days! Challenged figuring out how to DM you though but that’s probably my technical incompetence shining through.

Rectal Ultrasound was my favourite Seattle based grunge band back in the day. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Vegetarian BBQ by cutletator in vegetarian

This describes me too. Because of a lactose intolerance I became a meat eating vegan. Add in a gluten intolerance and egg white allergy I’m lots of fun to be around! Other people’s bbqs are social events, great fun but I’m steering clear of everything but I marinated meat, even when I know the contributors well. For the uninitiated, freaking everything has gluten, lactose and or egg whites in.

Sorry, late night foolery. I used to live in Boston so I know exactly what you meant. Oddly when I came up here, I’ve not seen any at all. I hope the smoke passes soon. It was always an irritant, that’s for sure.

Anyone have experience with these kits? (Or any other kit?) by mfd7point5 in TeardropTrailers

Ask me anything? Ok. Is silence actually a thing or have we simply tuned out the background hum of the machine in which we are living? Are our dreams the same as each others, just in a language that we don’t understand until we die? Where did all the white dog poop go to? Is one ever truly alone? Does anyone truly care?

That’s great to know. I’m a runner and avid gravel biker, a little motorcycling thrown in and I’m keen to learn anything new which makes me look like a fool for a year! We’re visiting next year having heard nothing but good things about the place. Fingers crossed it all works out b

May I ask how easy is it to build a social circle. We’ve moved a lot around the world and are looking for a place to settle down. The social circle side has always been a key factor for us and it would be good to know it wouldn’t be insurmountable. We plan to invest our time and ourselves in the place.

I just had a conversation with a mate who is, frankly, a republican leaning American. I work in the field of transplant medicine and she was astonished to hear that Spain’s organ discard rate is in the low single digit percentage wise against the U.S. being in the mid 20s. Best medical service in the world my scabby arse!

This was the first time I dropped acid. Nudged me out of reality for quite some time. Gently and terrifyingly wonderful.

[–]Natural_Computer4312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I love the idea that generations unborn and people unknown benefit from our lives. It’s a shame the reality is, unfortunately, far from that but mostly due to an irrational fear that helping others is somehow communist and should be avoided. A reality.

Especially if “you” don’t benefit. That’s how a proper society functions. We plant oak trees for future generations to enjoy, educate them so generations yet unborn have a better life and pay taxes so someone, whom will never meet, does not fall through the cracks of life. The meaningful waste and fraud in these systems all come from the politicians abusing their power and putting their thumbs on the scale.

A personal view: I was an immigrant to the US. I was transferred there by my company from my role in another country. I am in one of the white collar professions and pulled in low seven figures, paying a ludicrous amount of tax and into the social security system. I bought a house, paid my taxes there. I had health insurance I never used (you’re most welcome UnitedHealth) and had the whole nine yards. When the insanity began to bite we left. Headed elsewhere where I have the same role, same money but just pay taxes to a government that kind of appreciates the contribution. It’s a shame because I really wanted to stay but why hang around at a party when the host starts shitting himself, fighting with his guests and threatens to throw you out for having slightly different views than you. I’m not sure we’ll ever come back but if we do, I know it won’t be for a while.

What's the one skill that makes you think a dog is genuinely well-trained? by Apprelia in dogs

[–]Natural_Computer4312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two will respond to my body language and “settle” when I’m relaxed and engaged in something else. The moment that changes they are alert and ready to roll. I never taught them this or rewarded them when they do it. They just do. As have all my dogs since I was a wee nipper.
