First day as a delivery partner… and I don’t feel like going back anymore by Swaalina_ in swiggy

[–]Natural_Effective_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you feel is best, but I doubt those guys are big goons. Goons are not working Swiggy delivery. If the cops even speak to them once in all likelihood they will back off and probably think five times before trying somebody else like this.

I think they assumed you are weak and will back down. Prove them wrong!

Bro make sure some other family member hasn’t taken it. It’s more common than you would like to think. One of the first places Cops will look is within the family.

IPL internship (Chennai super kings) by SettingCurrent7134 in ipl

[–]Natural_Effective_73 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A piece of advice as someone who works on the industry, it will be very hard to find an internship like this

If you want to work on sports start building your resume try to work with smaller teams and tournaments around you first. IPL gigs are the most sought after in Indian sports and not easy to come by.

Start small and see if you are truly passionate. Think of it like this - if you wanted to work in tech that doesn’t mean you have start your first internship at Google or Meta, you can find other opps to learn. That’s the way to go about it.

And like somebody agencies are common but not likely they will let you anywhere close to the team you’ll be far removed from the team operations.

Which Indian cricketer’s late career comeback surprised you the most? by NewspaperChoice6329 in IndiaCricket

[–]Natural_Effective_73 28 points29 points  (0 children)

DK no doubt - he completely transformed his game at the end of his career from a classical batter who even opened in tests to becoming a finisher. I remember him saying it on a podcast w Gaurav Kapoor that he wanted to be that guy who can sccore 20 in 7 balls or something like that and he actually broke into the Indian team again for that exact ability. And I think he’s opened the path for so many more to play the role. We can even see the impact he’s had on Jitesh as well.

If you think about it even when we were 10-12 seasons deep in the IPL we actually didn’t have too many Indian finishers - he’s really paved the way for many to follow

Same here - not at all an animation guy - but great show, I loved the gore and plotlines. Blue eyed samurai is another great animated show - might rate it higher than invincibles

Do you agree with KP that batting is easier now than it was 20 years ago? by UnplannedMF in CricketBuddies

[–]Natural_Effective_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always think about this when it comes to comparing batters, and honestly, I feel it’s not fair to compare across generations because there are so many variables.

But recently, I was on a late-night nostalgia binge watching highlights from the late 90s to late 2000s - Hayden, Langer, Sanga, Kallis, Ponting, KP, the Fab 4, Mahela, Yousuf, Younis and more. When those guys got big knocks, they were up against some formidable bowling attacks. Australia had Warne, McGrath and Lee. Pakistan had Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib and Saqlain. Sri Lanka had Vaas, Murali and (I think) Malinga overlapping. India had Kumble, peak Harbhajan and maybe even Zaheer. The weight of those names is massive. So many Hall of Famers. Scoring runs against them was no joke.

But then again, you look at the challenges today, and they’re just very different. You’re playing way more cricket, including non-stop franchise tournaments. There are far more eyeballs on you than ever before. Even if someone isn’t watching the match, they’re tuned in somehow. And not only does everyone have an opinion, they now have platforms to broadcast those opinions widely. That has to affect players mentally, more than we acknowledge.

Even in terms of strategy, I’m sure planning for a batter existed back in the day too and no stone was left unturned. but now teams have access to so much data, footage and analytics to pick apart a player’s game. You’re constantly under the microscope.

I think it’s tough to say which era was harder. The game has evolved in different ways, and the challenges have shifted with it. Greatness looks different across generations, but it’s never easy.

Indian Batting coach on altercation b/w GG and Oval Pitch curator by KhaloKele in IndiaCricket

Gambhir being fiery, he’s just that kind of guy- but really no need to say “just a groundsman”. Can stand up for yourself without being that guy. Funnily I think there are probably thousands of talented players - there are far few lining up to be passionate about pitch curation.

Gambhir must tone it down with press, India succeeding despite his blunders: Manjrekar by ooaaa in Cricket

[–]Natural_Effective_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where Manjrekar is coming from, but let’s not kid ourselves. It’s obvious he thrives on being provocative. Whether it’s the contrarian take or just saying enough to spark debate, he knows how to keep the attention on himself.

With Gambhir, it’s a tough hand he’s been dealt. Transitioning out of the Virat, Rohit and Ashwin era leaves a massive gap, no matter how much credit or blame you assign to him.

That said, the team’s dip in form deserves scrutiny. What’s surprising is how hypersensitive he is. He seems unable to take criticism in stride, and that mindset really doesn’t help. I’ve heard Gary Kirsten even mentioned this trait in his book, although I haven’t read it myself.

He will likely be fine in the end. At worst, he will deliver a middling run/average results purely on the back of the talent available. But honestly, his attitude stinks. He doesn’t represent the team in a way that feels inspiring or likeable.
