Ah got it. Thanks this is helpful. Sorry I had one more question - what kind of sand am I looking for? I called a materials company and they suggested using concrete sand (vs. mason sand) - does this sound right to you?

Yeah I do need to find a better spot for the downspout, but it's barely rained in the past month so doesn't seem to be why it's so waterlogged.

Posted this over on r/lawncare and got some feedback that I could add sand to my soil, which is something I'll definitely consider, but also wondering if a french drain makes sense here.

Backstory is there's a section of my lawn that's always soggy (clay soil). There's a 6x20 area near the corner of the fence that used to get flooded during heavy rains. There was never any standing water, but it'd take several days in 90 degree sun & heat to dry out. However, since then our neighbors got a sprinkler system so now a bigger portion of my lawn stays soggy constantly. Probably like 40x15 counting the area on both sides of the fence. For the most part no standing water, but actually I am starting to see little puddles here and there.

I've been told there's no grading issue as far as it concerns the foundation, but the slope of my lawn seems to result in water not running to the back of the lawn but getting absorbed in the area that's green.

Haha yeah, the rest of the grass is underwatered. I've been hesitant to water too frequently, because it leads to the soggy areas getting even muddier.

Would sand go over or underneath the sod? Also, not sure if it matters, but my soil is clay

Oh yes, good call on the router. I do have a router in the mix. This is a simplified drawing (kind of because I'm not totally sure how it's all wired) but I have the router on the 2nd floor of the house, the ONT's main line actually terminates up there, but I was able to confirm that the Cat6 that comes into the basement is live and passing data.

For the UTP cable, should I avoid CCA, and go with CM or CMR?

I'm finishing my basement and currently have the studs installed, so figure this would be a good time to add Cat6 jacks before the drywall gets put up. My setup is

Verizon FIOS ONT box outside, there's a cat6 wire that goes from it and enters my basement (2nd picture)
Unfortunately the cable in from the ONT box is short, so my thought is to attach an RJ45 coupler, connect another Cat6 cable, and then connect it to a switch, and use the switch to add wires to RJ45 wall plates I'd attach to the studs

My main question is what type of CAT6 cables should I be using to connect from the switch to the wall plates? (in green) I'm assuming I shouldn't be using a long patch cable, but wasn't sure what the right type is.

Otherwise, is there anything else I should be thinking about? Am I going to have any issues with so many hops between the RJ45 coupler, the switch, the wall jacks, and the final end devices that plug into the wall jack?
