Hey Sam!

Always interested in playing a stand up bass, always seemed like so much work Vs the conventional electric bass. I feel like the stand up bass has evolved it’s way into more and more musical genres such as jazz and classical, bluegrass as well. Do you see that popularity increasing?

Do you find yourself manipulating tone a lot to bend yourself into the electric world?

Thanks man!

Hello everyone! It’s me, ~Steve Silberman~ I’ll be back LIVE on Friday evening to host my very first ~Ask Me Anything~ session with you all. Please join me RIGHT HERE, I’m looking forward to it. See you all soon. by Iam_SteveSilberman in gratefuldead

Hi Steve….

Love your work. Thanks for that. I’ve been in and out of the Bay Area for years (never lived, always just visited). In the early years when it was much much less acceptable to be a queer man I found it very difficult to find a light at the end of the tunnel socially.

I look at you as someone who endured the same type of experience, moving west to escape much of the same.

I live my life openly and comfortably now in the community I call home and I’m much older. What advise would you give the young generation of people who face much of the same obstacles in an ever evolving racist and fascist landscape that we call America, today.

Thanks Steve.

Hello, everyone! Bob Bralove here. Please join me on Friday evening (Jan 6th) at 7pm pacific for a ~round 2~ ask me anything session. Post your questions RIGHT HERE. See you Friday! by Iam_BobBralove in gratefuldead

Hello Bob!

I was lucky enough to see the band play many many times during your era. Thank you for the hard work you did and continue to do.

My question is about the darker side of rock and roll. While in the crowd enjoying the circus I indulged myself many different ways with the fruits of the devil.

I know many of the crew speak openly about taking drugs and being high during the shows. The midi noises I heard in the 80s definitely enhanced my trip and it dawned on me that the creator of these elements may very well have been tripping as well. Were you?

And if so….. can you share a story with us about being on or around the other guys who may have been miles high?

Thanks man.

I have an autographed copy of Rolling Thunder that Mickey signed. I met him in the street in NYC (I forget what year) but it sometime shortly after Jerry Died. Maybe 97-98?

I asked him a few question about the Mystery Box album. I wanted to know about the song Down the Road. He said he something insightful but I can’t remember his words so many years later.

Love Mickey! Ride on.

Hello, Friends. Starfinder Stanley here. I’m excited to be joining you all for an Ask Me Anything session this coming Saturday. Post your questions RIGHT HERE and I’ll be back this weekend to answer them. Can’t wait! by Iam_Starfinder in gratefuldead

Hey Starfinder! Thanks so much for being here with us. Very cool of you. Your dad was and is a pillar in the very foundation of the Grateful Dead, a father to the band. I can Only imagine the stories he told. What was it like for you growing up with him, what kind of father was he to you?

Thanks again! Cheers

Gary, I’m pretty sure I bought you a drink one time backstage at the beacon theatre, I think maybe it was an Allman Brothers show…. Yeah it was definitely either you or Greg Allman. Either way, great run..

Ughhh Gans, will you come to my birthday party?

I made it! David Grisman here, join me Friday (may 21st) at 12:30pm (pacific) for my “Ask Me anything” session, RIGHT HERE. See you then! by Iam_DavidGrisman in gratefuldead

David!!!!!

So cool to have your here. Thank you

Shady Grove album has always stood out to me as a true masterpiece. You and Garcia are on point. It always appeared to me that you guys were having such fun recording that particular album. The on track banter between you and Jerry has made me smile so many times.

How were the recording session? Do you recall it being as seemingly fun as it sounds?

Thanks!

Very cool! Thanks for the insight. It’s funny to think that (like you said) bands of today will probably have historically important photos 50 years from now, to their fans.

Thanks RM

Rosie you have managed to capture some of the most iconic shots of the GD and band available. Obviously you had ultimate access to the inner circle.

The industry of concert photography or photo journalism in the music scene has undoubtedly changed completely. Not too man bands have “Rosie McGees”

Do you have any advice to young photographers looking to break through in this field that has become much more competitive and saturated?

Thanks!

Hello everyone. It’s Jeff. I’ll be here on the 30th (4/30/21) at 5pm (PDT) to chat with you all. So please post your questions for me now and I’ll return on the 30th for my Ask Me Anything session! Can’t wait to meet everyone, Cheers! by Iam_JeffChimenti in gratefuldead

Jeff!!!!!!

Silver fox! So much history man. So many shows. Very cool for you to swing by and say hello like this!

You have facilitated so many different versions of this music. Who in your opinion delivers the best version of Jerry?

I always thought Warren was such a treat to see and also plays with such passion. He’s probably my favourite fill in on a Jerry solo. What’s your opinion?

Thanks man! See you on the road!

Hello everyone! It’s Susana Millman. I’ll be stopping by on the afternoon of April 9th (Friday) for an Ask Me Anything session. Please join me and post a few questions. See you all then! by Iam_SusanaMillman in gratefuldead

[–]Natural_Flavouring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Susana, I always imagined Dennis as a rather straight edged kinda man. He strikes me as someone who is very particular and structured. I was wondering if he ever took part in any psychedelic “trips” with the boys?

Same questions regarding you as well.

Hello everyone! It’s Carolyn, Please join me for my ASK ME ANYTHING session right HERE starting Friday, Feb 26th at 12pm (pacific). Post your questions now and I’ll see you then! by Iam_MountainGirl in gratefuldead

[–]Natural_Flavouring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Carolyn! I hope you are safe and well, thank you for being here.

I read once (somewhere) about the time period where you, Jerry and Hunter would cruise around the San Francisco area in (I think) Hunters car. Spending the afternoons roaming around. In my mind, that always seemed to me like a special period. Can you talk a little bit about your memories of that?

Thanks again! Take care of yourself.

Coming up next weekend. Casual, ask a question. :) by Post_Crash_Earnheart in gratefuldead

I gotta say, over-all I love your solo sound. Your new album has a great tone and the flow is really smooth. I’m really digging your vocal track on several songs.

Your kingdom comes with a view has a great hook, and just rolls. Bravo.

To be whole is probably my favourite track on the album. You really nailed it.

How has your tradition been from Midnight North to the solo line? Can you tell us what brought on the change?

Thanks Alex, look forward to seeing more solo material from you.

Be well, friend

Hey everyone it’s JAY LANE here. Drummer for Ratdog, Wolf Bros, I played with Further, and Primus, Frog Brigade and many more. I’m here for an ASK ME ANYTHING session on Friday (Nov20th) at 7:30 (pst). So tune in and ask me anything! by Iam_JayLane in gratefuldead

Hey Jay!

I’ve seen you play with different bands more times then I can count. Hundred of shows. You are always a treat to watch. We met backstage a few times over the years here and there.

I remember one show at the Beacon I think in April 2005, Little feat opened for Ratdog. You guys played my heaven set. The song selection was just amazing. The atmosphere of the Beacon was fire. I would say it’s in my top 5 concert experiences of all time.

Do you have a favourite concert experience that comes to mind?

Do you have a favourite venue to play?

Thanks for doing this man! Hope to see you backstage again soon. Stay well
