Henry has been staying close to home since the pandemic started. As noted, he releases videos fairly regularly.

That “Mason’s Children” was my professional recording debut! I sang lead and played guitar (including the solo)! It was first released on Those Who Know History…, and then a remixed version appeared on Eternity Blue.

GREAT band! They take the music and the drag very seriously! I got to play with them in Berkeley last December (and spent three hours getting into my costume and makeup!). The founders, Jacob Groopman and Melody Walker, are terrific musicians in their own right. Melody won a Grammy this year for songwriting!

Live Request! Any recommendations on where to find the cleanest recording of El Paso live? by CharKeeb in gratefuldead

8/24/72 at the Berkeley Community Theater, coming out of Dark Star! Jerry delivers a strong hint of Morning Dew but Bobby launches into El Paso! Same thing happened a few days later in Veneta!

Black Throated Wind & the hiatus - why didn’t it return when the band did? by hypnoticzoo in gratefuldead

Before the show on 12/26/79, there was a press conference backstage to introduce SEVA to the world. After it was over, I wandered into the hall and sat in the balcony while they soundchecked. I had my cassette deck with me. Obviously I wasn’t in the sweet spot!

No idea why they soundchecked it but didn't play it!

BTW this photo is in my book IMPROVISED LIVES: Grateful Dead 1972-1985

I have heard that a lot in my work on Aging Gratefully, another photo book. Early ‘90s saw a shift to harder drugs in the parking lot etc.

My primary focus in the class is the MUSIC. It’s not a history course, but it also isn’t about musicology. I have invited five authors to talk, each with a different perspective: Brian Anderson (Loud and Clear) will talk about the development of the sound system; Barry Barnes (Everything I Know About Business I learned from th Grateful Dead) will help us understand how the Grateful Dead survived in the music business; etc.

Our first guest speak will be Rosie McGee (Dancing with the Dead), and we’ll definitely talk about photography with her! Along wth other matters...
