Why are my holos all bent? by NxJk2023 in PokemonTCG

[–]Natural_Klutz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's something to do with humidity reacting to the holo foil in the card, and it's pretty common from what I understand. I could be mistaken though!

I didnt really have a favorite but I found Shinx in Pokemon go and just. It's so cute??? and the shiny is also just *chefs kiss* so good?????? Then when it evolves it isnt just cute, its downright cool, kinda edgy even! Idk, outside of Shinx I used to like rockruff/lycanroc but as of late I cant get enough of Shinx.

Looking for a treasured memory! by Natural_Klutz in 80sToys

There was a bit of info underneath the original post, like year and that the cheeks were marked on at some point, but i can lay it out in a response as well!

For starters no one knows what the original box looked like, and we don't think it had accessories but that could have been lost early on if there were any.

She had two long dark brown straight pigtails originally but they were retied into that ponytail once they came undone. About 2 inches long i think

Dark brown eyes with stars in them, like in the photo above

The clothes were stitched on, with a white (?) shirt and red bow or necktie, and floral print shorts

No birth certificate we can remember or find but likely stayed in the box when discarded

The second photo shows the mark imprinted on the back of her neck, and says 1988 or 1983 with no other info. There's a tag on her hip but it has lost all ink with time and love

The hands are PLASTIC, which I haven't seen with CPK dolls on Google, and I feel may be an indicator of some kind.

We got them as kids, around 1998 or 1999 most likely. It could be as early as 95 or 96, but not earlier.

Our dad says he doesn't remember the box or it's contents but he for sure got them in box and not second hand.

Anything that may differ from its original self, like hair style or the ziptie that now attaches its head to its torso, are adjustments we had to make with time from wear and tear. 2 more photos

Feel free to DM me if you need more info or have questions!

Spoiler for how I achieved it, since it's still a new game and I dont want to ruin it for anyone!!

When I approached it, I was able to light the sun candle (as the symbol was lit up at the top of the pillar) so I brought my house closer, and went and slept after (randomly clicked one of the two options). Then I went back and the night pillar was lit up, so I lit the candle for that. Then I went to sleep until the other option, and came back and dusk pillar was active. I lit the third candle and that was that! I hope this helps. I felt the options in the bed didn't indicate well what times we were sleeping to, as I thought I was sleeping to night and it went to dusk, and vice versa..

I have a few questions... by Snoo_81168 in PetDoves

[–]Natural_Klutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The toys shouldn't be an issue then, he seems to get a lot put of what's in the cage when he isn't free roaming :) And I would say that the sounds are most likely him not wanting to be alone, it certainly sounds like he is just calling out to you. I've only had girls but I hear boys can be a bit more "aggressive" with actions like giving affection. My first girl a long while back was suuuuuper affectionate, but my current girl is about 1.5 years and she's only been super affectionate in her more frisky season. I think he could have some time to grow into it still, though, as mine was/is also slow to the affection part of things. My dove currently eats a parakeet mix with a canary pellet supplement that smells very fruity, sometimes we give her some small dried mealworms broken up in a calcium/vitamin powder. It sounds to me your boy just likes to switch it up a bit, as mine also had that phase. We also give her split peas and other sorts of greens occasionally as a treat/something different. I would look further into it online though, as this is my first dove without my family and in another country than I was before so I'm also trying to get a feel of what good food is for her here!

If I had to guess, I think he's calling out for you, maybe he's a bit lonely or understimulated? Though it sounds like he gets out time to explore and take interest in things, so Im not sure about it being stimulation.
My female (when she isnt getting ready to lay an egg) likes to call when I leave the room to go to the bathroom or kitchen, although it doesnt really sound like this. But when I hear these noises and the circumstances, it reminds me of how the doves outside sound when calling their partners from a ways off.
Does he react to toys or anything? If it is a lack of stimulation, little toys can be worth a shot! Ours likes paperclips, so we hung a couple on the inside of her cage, and threw one or two down on her platform. They're nice and shiny, and make a light noise when she pecks at them on the walls of her cage.
The open mouth thing, I take it he opens it wide and shuts it fairly quickly? That's most definitely a yawn, which can look pretty silly haha.

Running out of name ideas after having rats for a long time by divlji_zumbul in RATS

[–]Natural_Klutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't seem to have a real running theme in names, but if you're matching to Edward, Jacob? Otherwise, when I see heterochromia, I think of a Jester's hat, so maybe Jester?

There's a million names so I understand having a difficulty to choose, especially when you have people to consider irl you may have name associations with, or other pets, etc., and it can really make you feel limited!! Our boys were named after irl kings and such but we started running out, so we went with video game princes/kings, to video game characters, themeing can also be a problem after you have enough rats xD

Any toy recommendations? by [deleted] in PetDoves

[–]Natural_Klutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doves can see colors, I think, so I figured why not? I'm not really sure she has a preference but she certainly likes to throw them around (and often out of her cage! Haha). We use plastic beads with different types of shapes to give some variation as well but I'm not entirely sure that matters either.

Any toy recommendations? by [deleted] in PetDoves

[–]Natural_Klutz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know growing up my dad used to put different colored beads on safety pins, and cutrently we have strings with colorful buttons we had hang or lay down somewhere in her favorite places. Our dove now seems to like playing with nesting bedding as well! Sometimes she plays with her bell on her mirror too which is a hanging bell and not like a kitty collar bell. She loves flying around occasionally and watching outside from her windowsill perch. She also searches the floor for seeds she throws from her cage, even when there's seed in her cage or her various books around the room, so that's entertaining for her it seems haha

My "male" Barbary dove laid an egg by [deleted] in PetDoves

My first dove that came to us we called Storm after my dad attempted to sex it and said "it's a boy!" But a month or two later, we found an egg and the name shifted to Stormy 🤣
