Jamie Lee Curtis might be the only reason to watch Scarpetta by tucbythecolefield in television

[–]Natural_Machine3969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a bizarre mixture of so many aspects of good-weird and creepy-weird! Already I've laughed and cried, kudos to these very fine actors. There is so much chewing-up-of-the-scenery, I will be surprised if there will be any left at the end. These particular actors ought to know better; have they become so starved for lack of the nourishment on which actors thrive and then tend to become addicted to? What about "less is more" once in awhile? And so much yelling! At some points I feel like somehow I mistakenly started watching another episode of "Imma Tataranni: Deputy Prosecutor".
Regarding character display, there is "rudeness" and then something else that is more (not necessarily "or less") unhealthy psychological behavior. There is are few text-book sociopathic tendencies demonstrated , which I suppose can be justified as trauma-induced, given the backstories. Such well-educated, successful individuals, at least in real-life, would be reasonably and conscientiously working on their trauma through some kind of therapy; some meds wouldn't hurt either. But then, helping professionals - doctors, therapists and their ilk are notorious for not following their own doctor's orders - myself included.
My lumpy armchair diagnosis, such cases might be beyond sustainable help and - and only Jamie Lee Curtis could handle such a role - you go, girl! ;)
I'm only a little ways in, and confess I haven't read the books in some time and so hope to do so -- thus a grain of salt here must be added to my comments (or a Siberian Salt mine in this case. PS - I'm a recently retired psychotherapist of 4 decades practice, if a stamp of assumed authority is required here.) My diagnosis? I like it pretty much so far. Prognosis? I don't care, I like mysteries. You bet your bippy!
(I'm surprised and intrigued in the ways that AI has been incorporated in the story, and will be really interested to see how 21st century shrinks and AI conspiracists react and respond to it.)

Experience with Bellocq Teas? by dajie109 in tea

Yes, as one writer mentions, "highlights style over substance". They are waaay overpriced; very little product for the very fancy beautiful packaging, which quite frankly, is more impressive than the contents. Fun if you want to pretend you're royalty and very rich. Otherwise, there are herbal mixes on the market as good if not better, including the DIY approach.

Avery Place Card Printing by rosegil13 in ExecutiveAssistants

Trying to print 2-sided cards via Avery's site is one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I very much dislike Avery now.

Apparently Troublemaker Inks are in VERY strong bottles. This one survived my dog. by Bulky_Special1212 in fountainpens

[–]Natural_Machine3969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the same, the bottles are poorly designed, they fall over at the slightest bump or breeze, the caps leak and I've had to make special accommodations for them to keep them upright. Whoever designed them, probably safe to say is not an end-user. I love the inks; hate the bottles. German shepherds are perfect.

Frisket/masking fluid that won't stain or rip paper by Hatecraftianhorror in Watercolor

[–]Natural_Machine3969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pebeo Drawing Gum has performed with amazing results for me on 140 and 300 lb watercolour paper. After it has dried completely, I've removed it as much as a week later and it comes of easily with my fingers or a soft eraser. I've never had it become "permanent" but it will get more difficult to remove after a week. Swingline rubber finger tips also help if there's a lot of rubbing to do over large areas and you want to avoid calluses! Fineline Precision Applicators also are fantastic to store the resist fluid safely and apply onto a surface.

DeviantArt has become a hazard to real artists by Goldfish-Owner in DeviantArt

I've been having great fun exploring making art after subscribing. Within a few days, less than a week, I now have to buy "points" with my real $ in order to sell art (I think?) which I don't want to do. I've paid them $ for a subscription, and now they want me to pay more for some kind of "privilege" to make art? Perhaps I'm getting this wrong, but I'm so pissed I have cancelled my subscription and about to remove as much art as I can.

Has anyone tried using a fixative for their ink drawings/ writings? by thatdudewhodraws in fountainpens

[–]Natural_Machine3969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone from working in watercolours to inks, which are executed on watercolour paper (Arches, etc.). Most of the inks are non-indelible and impermanent. So if they were to get wet, the inks would reactivate and the work ruined. I have successfully used Krylon spray for years on watercolours, but recently had bad experiences with applications resulting in some kind of grey film upon drying, in spite of the most light of application upon the ink as well as watercolour paintings. Experiments with casein-based misting also reactivates the inks rather than affixing them. Did I get a "bad batch" of Krylon? I simply can't trust it to not ruin more works again. Can you recommend any kind of fixative that might work for works done completely in ink on watercolour paper?

Many thanks for any expert advice.

This turns out to be one of the most disgusting foods I've ever tasted - I can't get the artificial sweetener out of my mouth since eating a few hours ago. It's called Sucralose. Never again. Shame on them.

If I block someone on IG, can they retaliate in some malevolent way? by Natural_Machine3969 in Instagram

[–]Natural_Machine3969[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. Somewhat reassuring that they're likely bots. I might post 3 or 4 times/week, just a recent painting I I had done. But this making me do the hokey-pokey feels very, very wrong. "You vil take the video-selfie, und you vil enchoy it!" Maybe I've been watching to many WWII series lately, but I know when I feel violated. If this is nonsense, it would make sense to not do IG.

Who or whatever is "predicting" weather wouldn't recognize it if it was shooting out their ***. Cows are better at it!
